Security Assistant – Monitoring and Accountability (M&A)

Role Overview: The Security Assistant supports the Security Manager in implementing and maintaining effective security measures to protect the organization’s assets, staff, beneficiaries and operations. This position involves monitoring security situations, conducting risk assessments, and assisting in the development and execution of security protocols.

  • Location: Borno and Adamawa (remote areas)

Key Responsibilities:

Security Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Keep detailed logs and records of all security incidents.
  • Assist in preparing regular security reports for the Security Manager.

Risk Assessment and Management:

  • Conduct regular security risk assessments for various locations.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Assist in the implementation of risk management strategies.

Emergency Response Coordination:

  • Help develop and update emergency response plans.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents and emergencies, providing support and coordination as directed by the Security Manager.

Policy Implementation and Compliance:

  • Support the dissemination and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of and comply with security guidelines.
  • Assist in the development and revision of security protocols.

Liaison and Coordination:

  • Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as necessary.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure integrated security efforts.
  • Participate in security meetings and briefings.

Training and Awareness:

  • Assist in organizing and conducting security training sessions for staff.

Vacancy Announcement

  • Promote security awareness and best practices among employees.
  • Distribute security alerts and advisories as needed.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of security equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in budgeting and procurement processes for security-related expenses.
  • Provide administrative support to the Security Manager as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Educational Background:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security management or related field is preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a security role, preferably within a humanitarian setting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong observational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using security systems and software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies.
  • Knowledge of local security issues and trends in the region.
