Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding curriculum requirements and creating syllabus, lesson plans, and educational content that satisfy these requirements.
- Teaching musical instruments like piano, guitar, and violin.
- Helping students understand and read music notes and scales.
- Training students for events, musical performances, and concerts.
- Analysing the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students and structuring lessons and assessments around them.
- Adjusting teaching methods to suit different groups of learners.
- Creating engaging, stimulating lesson plans and asking frequent questions to make sure students are on track.
- Reporting any progress issues to the head of the department, as well as the parents.
- Attending meetings, training sessions, workshops, conferences, and other continuing education initiatives.
- Providing extra support to students who require it, and more challenging tasks to those who are ahead of the class.
- Keeping the line of communication open between students, staff, and parents.
Requirements:
- Degree in Music or related field
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience as a music teacher (full-time or part-time)
- Relevant music teaching certifications may be required
- Strong instrumental skills and knowledge of music theory
- Patience, innovation, and effective classroom management skills
- A completed teaching apprenticeship would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with interactive teaching tools and 21st-century teaching methods
- TRCN Certification is an added advantage
