The TB Surge Response is a short-term initiative aimed at rapidly increasing TB case notification in a number of targeted states. This is a rapid response meant to demonstrate that channelling requisite resources (human and material) in targeted areas will lead to significant increases in TB case notification as a proof-of-concept. This will help to shape the future of funding for TB programs in Nigeria.

Main responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of program intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly. 

• Symptomatically screen all clients assessing hospital services for TB at the assigned screening point/s
• Facilitate the screening of clients assessing hospital services with chest x-ray, where necessary
• Document the screening outcome (symptomatic and chest x-ray) in the health facility register for TB screening 
• Fast-track the process of the client seeing the clinician for the primary reason of his/her visit 
• Link the client to the DOTS center where his/her details are entered in the presumptive TB register
• Ensure appropriate specimen are obtained from all presumptive TB cases and tested with GeneXpert. Use AFB microscopy where GeneXpert is not accessible
• Ensure patients who are unable to produce sputum are linked to x-ray services
• Ensure all TB patients are started on treatment and properly documented in the treatment register
• Check and ensure the health facility register for TB screening is properly completed including the page summary.

Your profile (Eligibility Requirement)

• A Minimum of Bachelor Degree or its equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience
• Candidates must be a Computer literate
• Medical qualification is an added advantage
• Possess a Positive attitude (demonstrate integrity, confidentiality, approachability and diplomacy).
• Ability to withstand work-related pressure, accurately follow instructions
• Ability to express oneself through good communication skills: verbal and written.
• Fluency in English Language is a must
• Fluence in local dialects is an added advantage
