General Position Summary
This position will entail planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a range of community/social initiatives, as determined by AA Peaceworks, these initiatives will be applied by using community development strategies (asset-based community development) and working collaboratively with key agencies, relevant stakeholders and develop sustainable partnerships.
Job Responsibilities
- Update and develop appropriate community development policies for AA Peaceworks.
- Ensure appropriate consultation and participation by the community in the development of policies and strategies related to community development activities.
- Gather relevant information concerning community development initiatives, the projects being undertaken, and policies developed.
- Coordinate local activity regarding community mapping, mobilization, and development
- Apply asset-based community development (ABCD) strategies to implement community initiatives.
- Support the development of regular communication within the community, including facilitating peer-to-peer networks of support.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and foster partnerships with a variety of non-government organizations providing services in the Niger Delta Region.
- Develop and maintain effective communication links with implementing communities.
- Provide policy advice to AA Peaceworks on appropriate initiatives, issues, and legislation relevant to community development.
- Capacity building in the form of training, awareness creation, and mentorship for social groups and identified community champions on the dissemination of green climate economy.
- Work directly with communities of the Niger Delta region to promote community-led development including preparation and prioritization of community development plans for local improvement.
- Work with consortium members to initiate social and economic/environmental development strategies in the Niger Delta region.
- Contribute to the process of learning, evaluating, capturing, and disseminating lessons from the program for continuous improvement of program performance and overall outcome.
- Coordinate local activity regarding community mapping, mobilization, and development.

Qualification and Experience
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Social Science or other relevant field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in coordinating community engagement activities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English required, including report-writing skills
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work autonomously in a complex multi-agency environment and manage own workload.
- Ability as a collaborator and facilitator.
- Experience in Niger Delta Region is an added advantage
