Terms of Reference (TOR) for a Research Data Analyst

BACKGROUND

Stand To End Rape Initiative (STER) is a youth-led social enterprise advocating against sexual and gender-based violence, providing prevention mechanisms and supporting survivors with psychosocial services. STER adopts a comprehensive approach to advocating for gender equality and eliminating gender-based violence in Nigeria. As part of our strategic efforts to understand the level of violence women face in the Nigerian political space, STER seeks to research Violence against women in the political space focusing on electoral processes.

To this end, STER seeks to engage a Research Data Analyst to analyse research data to final research document (in English).

Scope of Work

This research data analyst will work under the technical supervision of the Research,

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer. The primary research topic is Violence against

Women in the Political Space. Specifically, the Research Data Analyst will:

  • Review the set questions to ascertain it aligns with the data needed to arrive at the research conclusion.
  • Design and coordinate the study activities and data collection effort for the project.
  • Undertake data analysis, perform statistical and/or mathematical programming, develop reports and visual representations, develop and/or maintain databases, provide consultation and technical assistance, advise and assist investigators in determining the appropriate statistical methodology to meet their study needs and objectives; employ various statistical and mathematical software packages to summarise and interpret statistical results.
  • Prepare a visually compelling and detailed report. . The expected deliverables are:
  • A detailed analysed research draft.
  • A report of the research project.

QUALIFICATIONS

Interested candidates should have at least the following qualifications:

  • MA in social sciences or a relevant field. (Focus on gender issues is an advantage.) ● Three years working experience, preferably in research, data analysis.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken, reading and written).

DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT

The duration of the assignment is expected to be 40 working days for two (2) months from the contract sign date.
