Full Term Employment: Finance Assistant
The Incorporated Trustees of Sexual Offences Awareness & Response Initiative [hereinafter referred to as “Sexual Offences Awareness and Response Initiative (SOAR)], a local non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on addressing sexual violence against children, is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill in the position of Finance Assistant. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the financial management of donor funded projects. This position is being recruited strictly on merit for the best candidate that can add value to our organization.
Position: Finance Assistant Location: Abuja, FCT Duration: Full time
Key Responsibilities:
- Support proper budget tracking and monitoring of multiple projects for effective project management decision making.
- Support oversee the effective, efficient and timely financial transaction posting and review for use in relevant financial analysis and reports
- Support and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for management and funders.
- Support and prepare monthly bank reconciliation reports.
- Support successful external audit of SOAR Initiative’s corporate finances yearly.
- Support and ensure compliance with all required statutory deductions and remittances
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum of B.Sc. or HND in Finance/Accounting with second class upper/ Upper credit
- A professional accounting certification is highly preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
Required Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing, handling NGO multiple donors funded projects
- Experience with non-profit organizations, NGOs, or donor-funded projects.
- Familiarity with: Grant management, Budget development and monitoring, Donor reporting (UN, USAID, EU, FCDO, or private foundations).
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or IFRS
- Fund accounting and project-based budgeting
- Internal controls and compliance procedures
- Proficiency in accounting software such as:
- QuickBooks
- Oracle
- Microsoft Excel (advanced)
