General purpose of the position

The Reception Centre Supervisor oversees the quality implementation of the overall reception centre activities and manages interventions that will provide protection services and basic needs to newly arriving displaced persons while at the Monguno reception Centre and ensures they are implemented according to INTERSOS’s SOPs, UNHCR standards and Procedures. The RC Supervisor provides administrative support, manages, supervises and builds the capacity of staff under his/her supervision.

Tasks and Main Responsibilities

· Ensures all newly arriving refugees are registered and persons with specific needs such as unaccompanied minors, separated children and children at risk are identified and attended to;

· Coordinates screening of arriving refugees for medical and nutritional support and ensuring they receive information, basic assistance materials for Individual and family psychosocial support and other protection services at the transit centres.

· Plans and implements refugee pre-arrival services, general reception services, including travel arrangements from the reception centre to the final destination/plots.

· Establishes and maintains standard information dissemination mechanism to refugees on arrival, during the stay at the centre and while on transit.

· In close collaboration with Project Officer organizes monthly and weekly activity schedule based on project plans

· Cooperates with Reporting Assistant for achievement and data related reports.

· Coordinates the overall service provision at the reception centre facility, by ensuring that plans for implementation are shared among partners and community members to attain a holistic approach

· Participation in INTERSOS’s security protocol for campsites, getting up-to-date security information from key informants in the local community of any security risks or constraints obtained from the site. Including real reason for movement trend of new arrivals on various location.

· Monitors the status of the population and highlighting trends with the camp management team.

· Build and maintain mutually respectful relationships with Camp Management, service providers local authorities, IDP community members and host community members, in order to ensure smooth communication, activity implementation, and community outreach.

· Liaise with relevant public authorities and services providers in order to foster effective collaboration and represent INTERSOS in relevant meetings.

· Cultivates a positive team working environment through staff coaching, mentorship and regular support to ensure all staff development issues are attended to.

· Develops staff performance measurement and targets and appraise them based on the set targets.

· Ensures prudent utilization of and accountability for resources allocated to the project

· Conducts daily field visits to support field staffs-mentoring-through technical backstopping and train duty bearers.

· Upholds INTERSOS’s code of Conduct, principles and SOPs.

· Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including CP and PSEA policy

· Any other task, assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

Professional requirements

· Minimum of a University degree in Social Sciences, Arts and Development study from a recognized Institution.

· Minimum of (4) years’ relevant experience.

· Experience of managing and supervising staff.

*Personal requirements**

· Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness.

· Understanding of gender, protection and human rights.

· Knowledge of the local languages spoken in the operation area is an asset.

· Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with national staff members and other stakeholders.

· Experience living and working in cross-cultural, multi-sector, insecure, and/or remote environments.

· Ability to work well under pressure and in adverse conditions.

· Proficiency in common computer packages and financial software (MS Excel, MS Word)

· Good command of written and spoken English, Kanuri and/or Hausa Language
