Qualitative Research Consultant at Breakthrough ACTION

Timeframe: An estimated ten working (10) days between 9th -20th January 2023

Scope of Work

Reporting to the Director Research, Monitoring and Quality Assurance and working closely with the Senior Program Officer-Malaria, Senior M&E officers at HQ and state project team, the Consultant will support qualitative research data collection activities (key informant interviews [KIIs] and focus group discussions [FGDs]) in Benue, Cross River and Oyo states. Below is the summary of specific tasks to be undertaken by the consultant:

  • Study and appreciate the study protocol
  • Review of qualitative data collection tools
  • Participate in a two-days orientation meeting of research assistants at state level
  • Provide oversight to the qualitative data collection and collation process
  • Provide daily updates to BA-N HQ MEL and state team on progress research activities
  • Analyze the data from all interviews and produce a final report of the qualitative research at the end of the study

Qualifications

  • A degree in Social Sciences or other related fields.
  • At least 5 years professional experience in conducting evaluations of health with a clear understanding of various social research methodologies
  • Demonstrated research and analytical report writing skills with a sound experience in qualitative data analysis.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft packages, Google Suite applications, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in the use of qualitative data processing tool (e.g ATLAS.ti or nVivo)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English language
  • Understanding of the cultural context and excellent communications skills that are appropriate and respectful to government stakeholders and the public in general
  • A proven ability to work as part of a team and to be self-managing.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to the project’s sites in the country.
