BACKGROUND
Child Protection and Peer Learning Initiative (CPPLI) is a human-centered social development not-for-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) that was established and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in July 2010 with the sole aim of ensuring that less privilege and vulnerable children (particularly girls) and women as well as populations affected by humanitarian emergencies have access and attain a quality life and education through building sustainable partnership with government agencies, UN-agencies, communities, individuals and other stakeholders in obtaining mechanisms and resources to achieve its aim and focus. The organization thematically focuses on Protection, Health, Nutrition, Education and Governance. Being a national and local organization, CPPLI is geographically operating in the Northeast Nigeria with tremendous technical expertise of working in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states due to its well understanding of the cultural dynamics and change in context of the communities in the BAY states.
Background of the project.
With support from the NHF, CPPLI will be implementing a protection project with a specific focus on disability programming, and GBV mainstreaming under the 2023 first standard allocation. The project will be implemented by CPPLI and jointly with Clearview Integrity Foundation (CVIF) across 4 locations viz; Madagali, Michika, Gombi, and Hong LGAs, Adamawa state.
The project focuses on breaking barriers and disability programming through strengthening prevention and response to general GBV issues within the communities with core programming for persons with disabilities. Following a holistic approach, the program targets returnees, IDPs, host communities, and traditional/religious leaders with a specific focus on people living with disabilities.

PURPOSE
Job Summary for Protection Assistant
The Protection Assistant will support the Protection Officer community engagement activities. She/he will monitor and coordinate the disability programming component of the project, ensuring equitable access to protection services for women and girls with disabilities.
Responsibilities of Protection Assistant.
- Assist in identifying barriers and challenges faced by persons with disabilities, especially women and girls.
- Monitor the delivery of specialized protection services and support programs for persons living with disability.
- Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in accessing services and resources.
- Maintain accurate records and data on disability programming activities in line with best practices and standards.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a holistic approach to protection programming.
- Prepare, consolidate, and submit regular monthly reports with the protection officer.
- Participate, when needed, in project assessments: surveys, data collection, filling questionnaires and forms, data entry, conducting interviews, FGD, etc.
- S/he will attend coordination meetings particularly meetings with the Adamawa State Disability Working Group/Northeast Disability Working Group, and Protection Working Group.
- S/he will be CPPLI’s focal person in the advocacy for the adoption of the “Discrimination Against Persons with Disability Rights Act” with UNHCR
Required Skills and Qualifications.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of protection principles and best practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages, and emailing.
- Persons living with disability are highly encouraged to apply.
- A strong understanding of Hausa and any other local language within the project locations is an added advantage.
- Fluency or ability to communicate in Hausa, and/or any of the native languages of Michika, Madagali, Gombi and Hong is an added advantage.
