The Justice, Development and Peace Commission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Nigeria is a ministry of service of the Church established to cater for all the people that are in need within her jurisdiction, irrespective of religion, culture, race or gender Where We Are The Archdiocese is located in the ever-sprawling city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Nigeria, with a conservatively approximated population of 7.5 million. Ibadan is the largest city in the world inhabited by the black race, but it is the Capital City of the Yoruba people of the Western Nigeria. The strategic location of the city attracts many Nigerians for commercial and industrial activities. Government structures and infrastructures are located in Ibadan, being the capital of the old Western Region. Such structures and infrastructures include Health and Educational Institutions/Structures like the University College Teaching Hospital (UCH), the University of Ibadan, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Nigeria Prison Service and so many others. Some basic social amenities were also provided and functional since the Independence of Nigeria on October 1st, 1960. Job Summary / Description

  • We urgently require the services of an innovative and experienced Project Officer to work with our team on full-time basis in Oyo.
  • In this position, the ideal project officer is expected to supervise program development, track progress and proposals, seek grants and other funding initiatives, manage projects, and oversee budgets.
  • Expected to guarantee that the institute’s activities and programs are met with the vision and mission statements of that institute.
  • It is the program officer’s responsibility to complete various tasks in completing the demands of this position. Their role also includes developing staff, implementation, and daily management of activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and contact potential grantees for funding.
  • Represent institute brand in industry conferences, meetings and workshops etc.
  • Manage and monitor grants and prepare funding and activity reports.
  • Provide guidance and maintain frequent communications with members, program partners and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot program challenges.
  • Develop best practices to improve overall program performance
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for programs. Identify and contact new program partners for programs expansion.
  • Plan and execute program activities in timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct program reviews and prepare reports for management.
  • Prepare meeting agenda, organize meetings, webinars, prepare reports and distribute minutes.
  • Schedule events and initiate new programs for members
  • Devising regular communication activities
  • Build strong relationships between members and the institute.
  • Collecting data, tracking membership statistics, and preparing reports
  • Organizing events and activities for existing and prospective members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science or other related disciplines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and editing skills.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years of experience.
  • Previous experience in membership programs & management.
  • Computer skills.
  • Social Media skills.
  • Proficiency / Strong Microsoft Office Skills.

Program Officer Requirements:

  • Ability to innovate, think creatively and take initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written ability.
  • Highly organized.
  • Focused and attention to details.
