Project Manager Hydroponics/Aquaponics/Livestock At Chabash development and Health Initiative (CDHI)

Chabash development and Health Initiative (CDHI) is a non-governmental organization dully registered with Nigerian government through Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT NO: 85190). Existing since March 2016, CDHI focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable population across communities in Northeast Nigeria. CDHI operates both in emergency and developmental context and have its programme principally rooted in identifying gaps that affects population and bridging those gaps through resource base planning and implementation.

Job Title: Project Manager Hydroponics/Aquaponics/Livestock

Location: Mafa,Borno State.

Employment Type: Contract

Contract Duration: Six Months with possibility of extension

Job Summary

  • You will manage emergency programming in Nigeria related to Food Security and Livelihoods, designing and implementing projects advancing Chabash Development and Health Initiative’s (CDHI) work in serving the poor and vulnerable.
  • Your management skills and knowledge will ensure that the team delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its programming.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement all activities throughout relevant project cycles – project design, start-up, implementation and close-out – to ensure efficient and effective implementation in line with CDHI program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices. Ensure project team and partner staff use the appropriate systems and tools.
  • Effectively manage talent and supervise. Manage team dynamics and staff well-being. Provide coaching, strategically tailor individual development plans, contribute to the recruitment process of project staff, and complete performance management for direct reports.
  • Champion learning with project staff and partner teams. Analyse and evaluate project performance data following MEAL policy. Proactively identify issues and concerns and use participatory processes to overcome implementation obstacles.
  • Act as a key resource person in project design and proposal development in respective programming area, gap-filling and taking on growth responsibilities, as needed.
  • Coordinate the identification of staff capacity and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and capacity strengthening and required interventions to support quality project implementation.
  • Help identify, assess and strengthen partnerships relevant to Food Security and Livelihoods applying appropriate application of partnership concepts, tools and approaches.
  • Coordinate and monitor financial and material resources relevant to project needs. Through planning and oversight ensure efficient use of project resources

Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications:

  • Msc, Bsc in Agriculture or in relevant field required. Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant field-based experience in coordinating or managing light to moderately complex projects required, preferably with an international NGO.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management experience in Food Security and Livelihoods is highly desirable,
  • Previous knowledge of Hydroponic and livestock
  • Experience engaging with partner organizations.
  • Experience contributing to the development of technical proposals.
  • MEAL skills and experience preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The role should provide community project supervision, promotes and values participatory approaches at the community level throughout the projects’ cycle, awareness-raising and sensitization, and all related program activities, Pre and Post Livestock Activities Monitoring (PLM) of livestock activities as well as monitoring and evaluation under the direct supervision of the Programme officer livestock.
  • Make day-to-day decisions which ensure that all livestock activities in the livelihood projects are implemented in a very highly effective and efficient manner.
  • Required to make significant decisions on program work in the field special focus on livestock based on Livelihoods and Resilience building based on Christian Aid strategic direction in Nigeria.
  • Leads Mafa project team and ensures the workgroup is effectively managed.
  • Support in the Program budget tracking in relation to livestock and other assignments
