Background
Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) is a non-governmental organization which has been engaged in developmental work in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States for the past 50 years. JDPC also focuses on Agriculture, WaSH, Nutrition, MHPSS and other emergency programming, reaching out to all persons on the basis of need, regardless of creed, ethnicity or nationality.
JDPC is inviting suitably qualified candidates for the above-mentioned position to work in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States (Maiduguri Diocese) Candidate must be prepared to start work as soon as possible.
About the Project – ALLRIGHT
The ALLRight Program is a special capacity building program – (Advancing Local Leadership in the Right Way). CRS created the ALLRight Fund in 2021 to “Advance Local Leadership in the Right way” (ALLRight). Through the ALLRight project, CRS is supporting JDPC Maiduguri to become a leading local organization for humanitarian and development programming in the Northeast of Nigeria, by building the capacity of JDPC’s management and staff, strengthening its systems and processes so as to position the organization for more sustainability.
Job Summary:
The Project Manager is responsible for executing the management and delivery of the ALLRight Program for JDPC Maiduguri. The role leads the ALLRight Project team, whose aim is to build JDPC Maiduguri’s capacity for ongoing viability. The ALLRight Program is funded by external Partner, CRS.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Fulfil deliverables of the ALLRight Program within the project’s program and work breakdown structure, within the project’s timeline and budget.
- Act as the reporting manager for the ALLRight program, ensuring associated JDPC Maiduguri’s leaders and funding partner receive and are provided effective information, updates to ensure the success of the Program
- Effectively lead and manage the Project team with positive engagement whilst ensuring optimum project quality in deliverables.
- Ensures the use of appropriate project management tools to plan, review and track progress on the project implementation as well as on the utilization of project resources.
- Ensures timely and quality preparation of project narrative reports.
- Any other responsibility that might be assigned to you by your supervisor.
- Demonstrate and apply the Principles of JDPC Maiduguri, the Mission and Vision to the performance of the role, and as an employee and team member of JDPC Maiduguri.
- Make continual assessments, initial and at milestone points, of JDPC Maiduguri’s organizational culture, relationships and systems that directly impact the progress of the project and ensure that planning and deliverables account for the areas of impact on success or delay of the project deliverables.
- Utilise project management tools to manage the Program, scrutinizing and providing regular progress reports, and as directed, in its implementation and budget/costs oversight and accountability.
- Create relevant KPIs, milestone points, informative reports, for JDPC Maiduguri and funder monthly or otherwise agreed by project stakeholders.
- Sound out any concerns, dependencies, barriers, or other matters which may impact the project and its management, progress and outcomes to the appropriate project stakeholders and team members to ensure solutions are developed and implemented and risk is mitigated.
- Implement the project with sound change management practices, ensuring the array of project outputs are successfully adopted by JDPC Maiduguri’s managers and staff.
- Participate in organizational activities which support the project execution, quality, and deliverables.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships for all in scope project activities, ensuring vendors and suppliers fulfil their obligations as stated in agreements through JDPC Maiduguri’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Administer the ALLRight project, ensuring documentation is completed in a timely, accurate manner, in accordance with the project’s governance and JDPC Maiduguri’s policies and procedures.
1. Influence and Team Leadership
- Lead ALLRight Project team, monitoring their deliverables and quality of work, organizational relationships, supporting the team individually and as a team, relieving the team of barriers which may hinder the team’s performance outcomes.
- Follow, as a matter of team management and leadership, JDPC Maiduguri’s human resources policies and procedures, which outline compliance, human resources practices such as recruitment and selection, performance and staff development, addressing poor performance, serious misconduct, employee attendance and leave complaints and grievances, and other matters.
- Manage the coordination of the project team’s activities, meetings, progress report meetings, resources and other requirements that will both engage the team and smooth the team’s pathway to deliver planned results.
- Build trustful relationships with leadership and senior managers, guiding them to inform, advise, coordinate, participate, and implement the ALLRight program.
- Communicate and share knowledge related to the ALLRight program as appropriate to JDPC Maiduguri teams for the delivery of the Program.
- Support the Director to champion the ALLRight Program across JDPC Maiduguri, ensuring people leader and employee buy-in to the need for the impending changes and renewed ‘ways of thinking and doing’ in JDPC Maiduguri, in alignment with the Mission, strategic directions and Catholic Social Teaching principles.
2. Personal Responsibility
- Grow and maintain deep knowledge of policies and procedures to ensure this role performs to a high standard of compliance, including liaising and informing JDPC Maiduguri staff of policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, accurately.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of self and fellow team members in the performance of role by observing human resources policies and procedures, and reporting safety hazards, both physical and psychological, to the Executive Director.
- Comply and adhere, as an employee, to JDPC Maiduguri’s Code of Conduct, the Safeguarding and Protection against All Kinds of Exploitation and Abuse Policy, and the Privacy Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A university level degree relevant to the role, or equivalent of 7 – 10 years of in-depth experience relevant to the role.
- Extensive experience working with Executive teams and senior leadership teams to develop and implement projects.
- Sound knowledge of the International Development and Humanitarian Assistance sector.
- Extensive experience in the management of an organisation’s people and stakeholders leading to advanced outcomes and enhanced organisational credibility.
- High level of communication (oral and written), presentation and reporting skills which influences constructively and gives confidence in the stakeholders and audiences’ ability to either/all assess, adopt, perform, embed, or make decisions as relevant to their role’s objectives and accountabilities.
- Sound project management and change management skills gained from experience in the role’s relevant sector and organisational projects which involved extensive set of deliverables.
- Demonstrated capacity in technical support and coordination.
- Must have cross –cultural sensitivity, problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Ability to cope and work under pressure.
- Effective multi-tasking, organizational capacity, prioritization skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members is essential.
