Job title: Project Coordinator (for CFM/Protection/AAP and Targeted Verification Project)
Duty Station: Borno (Maiduguri) North East Nigeria
Reporting to: Executive Director
General context of the Job/Project
- The Position will be responsible for implementing the minimum measures for mainstreaming
protection and accountability to Affected Population (AAP) as outlined by the Humanitarian
Principles, the SPHERE Standards, Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Guidelines, IASC
Commitments on Accountability to Affected People/ Populations (CAAPs). The Project
Coordinator will technically be supervised and supported by the Senior Protection/AAP Officer - The position will be directly involved in project planning, managing programme quality,
financial and narrative reporting, and liaison with relevant stakeholders and community
mobilization - Additional responsibilities include supervision and technical assistance to project staff as well
as relations with key partners and service providers - The role will ensure proper coordination of all actions that are designed to contribute to
achieving the overall objective of this project - The post holder will coordinate the implementation of the WFP project on CFM/Protection/AAP
and Targeted verification Project, document lessons learnt, and support assessments and
monitoring and evaluation
Job Description
- Lead and oversee the team as they conduct a Spot Check, gathering and analyzing data that
can be used to judge the reliability and effectiveness of the targeting exercise carried out by
the targeting committee and the partner managing the exercise in terms of achieving the
predetermined goals of identifying the most vulnerable households in the community. - In coordination with other partners implementing other project components, lead and
coordinate the formation and training of Project Management Committees in all project
locations. - Ensure that the team conduct regular community outreach initiatives as a means of collecting
feedback, identifying knowledge gaps, providing feedback to the communities on the actions
taken to address their complaints, providing information on entitlements and changes in
modalities and engaging effectively with communities - Lead and coordinate the formation of Project Management Committees and their training in
each project location, and collaborate with other partners to implement additional
components. - Lead and coordinate in the Conduct of training and/or awareness-raising for relevant
stakeholders on mainstreaming protection and integrating gender and Accountability to
Affected Population (AAP). - Lead and coordinate in awareness-raising of the relevant stakeholders and the affected
population on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse. - Lead and coordinate in the conduct of protection, Gender Risk Assessments, including local
participatory conflict risk analysis in project locations - Lead and coordinate in the collection of most significant change stories from the WFP
beneficiaries regarding the Impact of the assistance on their lives. - Lead and coordinate in the establishing and manage help and feedback desks at all distribution
sites across all project locations and in all project, components implemented by other
cooperating partners and provide communities with real-time information about WFP
assistance, connect families to services, and respond to concerns and feedback. - Participate in training and meetings on CFM and AAP and provide specific training to CFM
personnel on how to identify, handle and record protection cases and all other sensitive
complaints.
Reporting
- Produce gender and protection updates that will be included in field visit reports.
- Organize and prepare regular protection analysis reports.
- Contribute in biweekly/monthly reports, donor reports and proposals.
- Create weekly and monthly plans and facilitate community awareness sessions on general and
specialized protection services using strategies that advance gender equality. - Support and coordinate with M&E Officers and for surveys, post-distribution other monitoring
activities. - Assist teams in making those M&E procedures engendered protection and that learning about
protection-related issues is captured.
Coordination
- Establish channels of communication and close working relationships with the other
protection-implementing stakeholders in order to support a well-coordinated humanitarian
response. - Coordinate with procurement and logistics to make sure protection activities have the
necessary supplies in a timely manner. Complete and maintain records for all required reports. - Attend external meetings in coordination with the Senior Protection/AAP Officer.
- Coordinate field activities with other SHO teams.
- Attend internal and external protection-related meetings.
- Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
- Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within Salient
Humanitarian Organization (SHO) and amongst beneficiaries served by Salient Humanitarian
Organization (SHO).

Essential knowledge and skills:
- Bachelor Degree in Food Security or Agriculture, Social Science, Economics, Information
Technology, Law, Social Works related discipline and at least three years of professional
experience in food and cash assistance interventions. Experience in northeast Nigeria is an
added advantage. - Fluency in speaking and understanding English, Kanuri and Hausa,
Preferred experience:
- Experience in food, In-cash and In-Kind distribution
- Good computer skills especially Word and Excel, access. knowledge of other databases
preferred. - Experience in community mobilization and sensitization
- Effective diplomatic and interpersonal skills,
- Possess a high analytical capacity.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Hausa, Kanuri, and English.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- The ability to coordinate work across many departments as well as excellent organizational
and time management skills. - Experience living in remote or isolated work stations, or insecure locations.
