Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) – The Incorporated Trustees of Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (here in after referred to as “Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE)”) a local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). One of WEWE’s core ideologies is to be the most financially clean and compliant local NGO in Nigeria and Africa. We want to prove to the world that not all Nigerian NGOs are corrupt, and we want to be an example (An Ambassador) of a credible NGO in Nigeria and Africa.

Job Description

  • The project seeks to enhance the competitiveness, resilience and inclusiveness of Nigeria’s horticulture sector, with particular emphasis on the tomato value chain in Kaduna State.
  • Specifically, HORTISUN aims to increase productivity, reduce post-harvest losses and promote sustainable agribusiness models through youth- and women-led micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
  • Using a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach, the project will work with relevant market actors and leverage the capacities of MSMEs to achieve sustainable impact, scalability and replication.
  • The project will be implemented over a period of 24 months, from September 2026 to August 2028.

Job Summary

  • The Project Coordinator will lead the day-to-day management, coordination, and supervision of all project activities, ensuring alignment with AfDB/FAPA implementation guidelines and WEWE’s fiduciary systems.
  • He will provide overall technical, managerial, and operational leadership for the effective implementation, coordination, and reporting of the HORTISUN project in line with AfDB/FAPA standards.
  • He will report to the Executive Director, WEWE

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for all project components.
  • Prepare annual work plans, budgets, and procurement plans in collaboration with the project team.
  • Supervise field implementation, ensuring that activities are on schedule and within budget.
  • Oversee financial management, procurement, and compliance with AfDB/FAPA and WEWE guidelines.
  • Ensure effective coordination among implementing partners, MSMEs, and government stakeholders.
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly progress reports, annual implementation reports, and mission briefs.
  • Attend Tomato Community of Practice (TCoP) meetings and facilitate project steering committee meetings and ensure decisions are implemented.
  • Represent HORTISUN in donor coordination forums, and value chain events.
  • Manage and mentor project staff to maintain high-performance standards.
  • Ensure gender and youth inclusion in all project interventions.
  • Support visibility and knowledge-sharing activities, including success stories and lessons learned.

Deliverables

  • Approved work plans and budgets.
  • Quarterly and annual project progress reports.
  • Mission and supervision reports.
  • Consolidated project completion report with key lessons and impacts.
  • Functional TCoP and Partnerships

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Rural Development Studies, Project Management.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in managing donor-funded agricultural development projects.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with MSMEs, private sector actors, and public institutions.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with AfDB or multilateral donor procedures is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of Hausa preferred.
