Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno State, MI is currently active in the WASH sector for improving the lives of both the IDP population as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. They include the destribution of NFI (in-kind Non-Food Items), solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines and hygiene promotion. Malteser International also has its core competencies in Gender Based Violence (GBV), and thereby applies a participatory, gender sensitive and inclusive approach.
For its work in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Finance and Administration Officer – National Position.
As the Finance and Administration Officer, you will be responsible for tasks related to finance, logistics, security and HR administration of the Malteser International Programme in Yola.
Your responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with Malteser International policies, donor regulations and national laws in all financial and administrative processes
- Ensure that base safety is a top priority by training guards and cleaners in fire prevention and suppression and ensuring that the base environment is clean, well managed and planned to minimize the likelihood of a fire
- Manage all assets of Malteser International in the field base, including inventory
- Monitor proper functioning of electricity-generating devices (generators, investors and governmental electricity supply), document accordingly in the respective logbook and manage field base supplies (stock cards, monthly stock request, cleanliness, access control etc.), using the Store Release Form (SRF) for fuel
- Manage cooks, cleaners and guards to ensure that essential base activities are performed effectively on a daily basis and that a high standard of work and discipline is maintained, including keeping attendance records and ensuring high standards of hygiene in food preparation and potable water storage
- Recruit daily laborers in the absence of any of the above staff members in close collaboration with the HR department in the base office
- Collaborate closely with the WASH Lead and Construction Field Officer to ensure that construction works are carried out in accordance with agreed specifications, prepare monthly estimates cost for field base expenses (NFI, labor charges and transportation charges) and calculate costs for minor renovations
