Women and Children in Support of Community Development Initiatives (WOCCI Nigeria) is a registered non-Governmental organization that targets women and children and empowers them to be agents of positive change in their communities.

Job Purpose

The post holder would in collaboration with the Programme Coordinator provide technical inputs in the planning, implementation and reporting of WOCCI initiatives and activities. S/He will work with partners, communities, staff and volunteers in ensuring effective implementation and coordination of activities, as well as meeting specific donor and project’s programmatic objectives.

Specific Responsibilities:

Programme

  • Take charge of the design and implementation of WOCCI interventions at all levels
  • Proactively update Management with relevant information on an ongoing basis for programmatic decision making
  • On a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, analyze programme reports and provide executive summary briefs to the Management
  • Provide technical support to assistants and Volunteers in ensuring quality in programme delivery that will strengthen sustainability of interventions
  • Design and support the implementation of capacity building initiatives for staff, volunteers and communities
  • Remain informed on current research and other developments relevant to WOCCI core areas of focus, especially post holder’s theme of expertise
  • Closely liaise with other development and CSO partners as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Programme Coordinator

Policy, Advocacy and Research

  • Initiate and Coordinate all WOCCI advocacy activities directed at improving the conditions of people we work with
  • Develop and maintain technical assistance and capacity development plan for  communities, staff and volunteers to influence policies
  • Provide technical support in evaluation research (including sampling strategies, analysis and presentation of data) embarked by WOCCI or its partners

Documentation

  • Collate and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports accordingly
  • Document and follow up on outcome of project implementation
  • Contribute to WOCCI newsletters
  • Document and share learning from the project at national and international fora
  • Prepare power-point presentations on either key changes, significant progress, success stories, organizational profile, or any related topic for WOCCI usage
  • Provide inputs into the writing and review of periodic reports and other documents especially for accountability purpose

Reporting and Accountability

  • Submit timely narrative reports to partners and donors showing progress towards the achievement of mutually agreed objectives
  • Submit situational and any other non-routine reports when necessary
  • Participate in programme meetings of WOCCI sharing experiences from the field, bringing up issues of general programme nature for collective decision making.
  • Facilitate the sharing of information among partners and with other stakeholders
  • Identify and prepare success stories of change or case studies on lessons learnt for sharing
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for collaboration, partnerships and other forms of engagement by WOCCI

Financial Management

  • Participate in and contribute to the development of WOCCI annual plans and budgets
  • Take leading roles in fund raising activities for WOCCI including but not limited to developing concept notes, sourcing and writing grants winning proposals etc

Representation

  • Represent WOCCI at functions and programmes – including attending meetings on behalf of WOCCI Management
  • Make presentations at professional meetings and conferences on matters related to WOCCI programmatic priorities

Others

  • Carry out other responsibilities assigned by the Director Programme Quality
  •  Internal Relationships: All WOCCI staff and Volunteers    
  • External Relationships: Partners, Donors, CSOs and relevant government agencies.

Persons Specifications

  •  Education/Qualifications A degree in health sciences, social sciences or arts/humanities Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Experience At least five years post NYSC experience
  • Four years’ experience in a similar position in the development sector preferably in programming
  • Excellent knowledge in the use of basic Micro-Soft Office packages in general Experience in community-based work and engagements with NGOs and CBOs
  • Skill Abilities Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to provide practical solutions within set deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain donor relationship and accountability in line with funding policies and standards.
