Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) was established in 1998 as a non-governmental Organization to serve as a collective voice of PLHIV in the Country. The Organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria in September 2004. NEPWHAN is now Seventeen (17) Years Old as a vibrant patient community network in Nigeria. The network formed since 1998 has established structures at the zonal and all States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and as well saddled with the responsibility of coordinating, supervising and monitoring activities and programs of over 1, 030 support groups membership across the Federation making it one of the biggest Patient network in Africa.

NEPWHAN has formed constituent bodies; Association of Youth Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (APYIN), Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Association of Religious Leaders Living with and Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS (NINERELA+) to advocate and provide HIV programming intervention for the specific needs of their targets and members.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Programme Officer

Location: Gombe
Employment Type: Contract

Overview

  • The ATM networks are working together to implement the above project in Gombe State and as such require the services of a Programme Officer in the State for about two years renewable.
  • The Programme Officer will be responsible for, and focus on, providing technical and professional assistance and support to the CBOs / FBOs working on the RSSH / C19RM project within the state, provide effective programme management and administration, as well as the monitoring, supervising and reporting on the activities of CBOs / FBOs and CLMTs in the state.

Eligibility / Selection Criteria

  • Applicant must have Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a health-related discipline, or social sciences with 2 – 3 years post-qualification experience in an organization working on TB, HIV/AIDS or Malaria
  • An applicant with working experience in more than one of these disease areas has an added advantage
  • Have good communication and community mobilization skills
  • Be resident in the state
  • Be ready to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have the ability to work with minimum supervision and exercise sound judgment and flexibility to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Have well-developed writing and analytical skills as well as the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
  • Have effective presentation and interpersonal communication skills as well as the ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholders’ relationships
  • Possess the ability to contribute to the effectiveness of a team, including supporting others and managing priorities
  • Be able to communicate fluently in English and the local dialect(s) of the state and localities they would be working in
