A startup national Nonprofit Organisation based in Abuja that aims to focus on public leadership, peacebuilding and social development is recruiting suitable candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Programme Coordinator

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: Six (6) months with a possibility of extension
Proposed Start Date: August 2021

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities required for the successful achievement of all objectives set out in the organisation’s Year 1 inception work plan with support from the organisation’s strategic development team.
  • Oversee the successful and timely incorporation of the organisation’s in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Company and Allied Matters Act of Nigeria
  • Support the strategic team in correspondences with potential partners, board members, advisory board members and other stakeholders as contained in the organisation’s Strategy document
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of all activities in the organisation’s work plan.
  • Supervise intern/volunteer(s) and technical input providers to be contracted on a short-term basis to undertake the following:
    • Website development and maintenance
    • Incorporation and other regulatory obligations
    • Other technical input as will be indicated by the Strategic Development Team
  • Work in conjunction with the Statutory development team in the identification of, correspondence and eventual onboarding of members to the Foundation’s Boards (Governing and Advisory)
  • Continuously, with support from a volunteer/intern, scan the operational horizon of the organisation’s whom the board will engage with for the purpose of strategic partnerships.
  • Lead on resource mobilization
  • This position will be the initial secretariat of the organisation’s in its inception phase, responsible for documentation of meetings, correspondences, authorized expenditures, etc.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Development-related disciplines (Development Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Sociology) with a minimum of 3 years work experience, or Undergraduate degree with a minimum of 5 years work experience in project/Programme management.
  • Experience in setting up and managing a non-governmental organization (NGO) or managing a development programme and leading a team.
  • Experience in working with international development agencies or programmes
  • Experience supervising a team is desirable
  • Expertise in Project design and financial management and using project management applications & tools (MS Project, Excel, etc.), designing log frames, project work plans, etc.
  • Competence in proposal writing, grant applications and report writing.
  • Advanced ICT skills – MS Applications, online publishing applications, etc.
  • Communications skills – verbal and written, implementing strategic communications and Knowledge Management plans and monitoring stakeholder feedback.
  • Ability to work independently is essential
  • Networking, stakeholder engagement and networking.

Additional Information:

  • This role might require occasional travel.
