Purpose of Job

  • As a Programme Coordinator, your primary responsibility is to spearhead the planning, execution, and oversight of our projects and programmes, which are designed to foster women’s empowerment and drive progress towards gender equality in Nigeria.
  • In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in project management, programme coordination, communications and volunteer management efforts.
  • Your contributions will directly impact the success and effectiveness of our initiatives, ultimately leading to positive change and empowerment within the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management:

  • Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate project activities, including organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Monitor project progress and performance indicators to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with project team members and partners to achieve project milestones.

Programme Management:

  • Coordinate the implementation of programmes aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality.
  • Ensure that programme activities are effectively executed and aligned with our mission and strategic objectives.
  • Monitor programme outcomes and evaluate impact using established metrics and indicators.
  • Identify opportunities for programmatic improvements and innovation.

Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports on programme activities, progress, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that reports are accurate, timely, and in compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure programme effectiveness and impact.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Communications:

  • Assist in developing communication strategies and materials to raise awareness of our programmes and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the production of promotional materials, including newsletters, brochures, and social media content.
  • Engage with stakeholders, partners, and the media to promote our mission and activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust strategies as needed.

Volunteer Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support programme delivery and implementation.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to volunteers based on their skills, interests, and availability.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and feedback to volunteers to ensure their effectiveness and satisfaction.

Requirements
Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, International Development, Women’s Studies).
  • Proven experience in project management or programme coordination, preferably in the field of women’s empowerment or gender equality.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with NGOs or non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with gender mainstreaming approaches and principles.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tools.

Skills and Personal Attributes:
Essential:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Calendar, and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • Experience in community engagement.
  • Ability to speak in local languages such as Bini and any other.
  • Commitment to gender equality and women’s rights.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Monday.com, Trello, etc.

    • Salary Increase: After completing a 3-month probation period, you can expect a minimum of a 25% salary increase. Additionally, annual salary increments between 5% and 10% are offered based on performance appraisal.

Terms of Appointment

  • This is a full-time, permanent position starting in July 2024 and based in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. As a Programme Coordinator, you’ll work 7 hoursdaily, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a one-hour unpaid break. Fridays are designated for personal development, providing you with dedicated time to focus on your growth and well-being.
