Title: Programme Assistant Inclusive Education

Location: Kaduna, Nigeria

Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Sightsavers is recruiting a Programme Assistant to support the implementation of an Inclusive Education Programme for children with disabilities in Northwest, Nigeria. The postholder will be a member of the Support Mainstreaming Inclusion to all Learn Equally (SMILE) program team and take responsibility for seeking and providing feedback on all SMILE activities and deliverables.

About the role

  • Support the creation, implementation and management of the annual work plan
  • Assist in the roll out of implementation plans
  • Review and update the project schedule with input from the programme team and management
  • Support in the creation of a detailed programme monitoring plan
  • Help monitor and implement smart actions to improve efficiency and quality of the project implementation
  • General support with reports, documentation, payment schedules and case studies related to the programme
  • Work with the Programme Officer to oversee the smooth running of the programme, ensuring consistency with the project priorities, deliverables and outcomes
  • Share findings from evaluations to support organisational learning and contribute to policy processing/development
  • Visit LGA’s and communities to ensure quality and efficiency of monitoring activities
  • Advocate for Sightsavers with local partners and relevant forums
  • Build working relationships with Government and organisations of PWD’s at all levels to raise the profile of Sightsavers
  • Support the review of Education in pilot schools, updating the team on priorities/constraints regularly

Job holder requirements

Essential

  • Experience or tertiary degree in Education, Social Science, Social Work, Psychology or related fields
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (UNCRC) essential
  • Proven track record as a team player working with integrity and commitment
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people
  • Able to multitask and prioritise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Hausa languages
  • Able to develop budget plan and workplan
