Job Summary
- The Program Officer will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the organization’s programs and advocacy initiatives. This role will also serve as the Walk Coordinator for WalkAway Cancer, leading the planning and execution of the annual WalkAway Cancer event and related activities.
- The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, passionate about public health and advocacy, and able to coordinate people, timelines, and resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
- Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of health, advocacy, and community outreach programs
- Coordinate program activities, timelines, and deliverables to ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Prepare program reports, documentation, and impact summaries
- Liaise with partners, stakeholders, volunteers, and community leaders
- Assist with budgeting, logistics, and resource management for programs
WalkAway Cancer – Walk Coordinator
- Lead planning and execution of the annual WalkAway Cancer Walk, including pre-event, event-day, and post-event activities
- Coordinate volunteers, vendors, partners, and sponsors for the walk
- Oversee registration processes, walk kits, route planning, and on-ground logistics
- Work closely with the communications team to drive awareness, participation, and engagement
- Track participation metrics, feedback, and post-walk impact reporting
- Ensure the walk aligns with the organization’s advocacy goals and brand values
Collaboration & Communication
- Work with internal teams to support campaigns, events, and awareness activities
- Represent the organization at meetings, community events, and partner engagements
- Support donor and partner reporting where required
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field
- 2–4 years experience in program coordination, project management, or NGO/health-related work
- Experience coordinating events, community programs, or advocacy campaigns is an advantage
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines
- Passion for health advocacy, community engagement, and impact-driven work
