Job Summary

The Program Manager, Governance, will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of governance-focused programs aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation. She/he will work closely with internal teams, government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to advance good governance practices and strengthen democratic institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement governance programs and initiatives in line with the organization’s mission, objectives, and strategic priorities.
  • Conduct assessments and analyses to identify governance challenges, gaps, and opportunities at the national, regional, and local levels.
  • Design and facilitate capacity-building activities, workshops, and training sessions for government officials, civil society representatives, and community leaders on governanceprinciples, practices, and mechanisms.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, laws, and regulations that promote transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
  • Foster partnerships and collaboration with government agencies, civil society organizations, academia, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy reforms and institutional changes that enhance governance effectiveness.
  • Provide technical assistance and advisory support to government institutions and civil society organizations in the implementation of governance-related projects and programs. o Monitor and evaluate program activities and outcomes, and document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to inform future program design and implementation.
  • Represent the organization in relevant forums, meetings, and events related to governance, and contribute to advocacy and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, research findings, and best practices in governance and democracy promotion, and incorporate new knowledge into program strategies and approaches.
  • Supervise and mentor program staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality program delivery.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Law, or related field. o Minimum of 8 years’ experience in governance, democracy promotion, or related fields, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Strong understanding of governance principles, institutions, and processes, with expertise in areas such as transparency, accountability, anti-corruption, and citizen participation.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, civil society organizations, donors, and other stakeholders.

Proven experience in project management, research, policy advocacy, and program development inGoverance

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. o Proficiency in relevant computer software applications, including Microsoft Office suite and statistical analysis software.
