Position Overview:
As the Program Manager, you will lead, coordinate, and oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of ALSAR programs. You will demonstrate a passion for social impact, use your experience in program management, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to improve the impact and effectiveness of ALSAR’s work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Planning, Development, and Implementation:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality programs in line with the organization’s strategic objectives and donor requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to identify programmatic needs, priorities, and opportunities, ensuring alignment with local contexts and beneficiary needs.
- Oversee program implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.
- Provide guidance and support to program staff in the planning, execution, and monitoring of program activities.
- Foster partnerships and collaborations with local communities, government entities, and other NGOs to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability
- Conduct needs assessments and research to inform the design of effective programs.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify emerging trends and opportunities for program expansion.
- Lead the implementation of ALSAR’s empowerment programs, ensuring they meet established quality standards.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to achieve program objectives.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages active participation and engagement from beneficiaries.
- Monitoring and Evaluation and Reporting:
- Design and implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks for each program.
- Regularly assess program effectiveness and impact through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Use monitoring and evaluation findings to inform program adjustments, improve program quality, and promote evidence-based decision-making
- Utilize feedback mechanisms to continuously improve program delivery and outcomes.
- Oversee the development of timely and comprehensive program reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and documentation of program activities and results.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to highlight program successes and share lessons learned with relevant audiences.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent ALSAR at relevant forums, conferences, and networking events to enhance the organization’s visibility and partnerships.
- Resource Mobilization:
- Collaborate with the fundraising team to identify and pursue funding opportunities for program sustainability.
- Prepare compelling grant proposals and reports to secure financial support from donors.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with local and international organizations, fostering collaboration and resource-sharing.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts by participating in proposal development, donor engagement, and resource mobilization activities
- Team Management and Capacity Building:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the program team, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify capacity-building needs for program staff.
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and mentoring opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
- Others:
- Engage in advocacy efforts to influence policies that support the empowerment of women, youth, orphans, and vulnerable children.
- Stay informed about relevant policy developments and contribute to policy discussions at local and national levels.
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with program implementation.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure program success.
- Encourage and support a culture of innovation within the organization.
- Explore new approaches and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of empowerment programs.
- Work closely with program partners, including other NGOs, academic institutions, and private sector entities, to enhance program impact.
- Explore opportunities for joint initiatives and collaborative projects
Key Competencies:
- Experience in program management, project management, administration, or related field
- Understanding of budget management to effectively allocate and utilize resources for program activities.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Knowledgeable in program management methodology and techniques; performance evaluation and change management principles
- Ability to think strategically and align activities with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
- Strong leadership skills to provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to the team and other program staff.
- Proficient project management skills to oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of activities within the program.
- Proficient computer skills, and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey implementation findings and recommendations to diverse audiences, including stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and resultsoriented team culture.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and partner organizations.
