The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Duties

  • The Program Management Assistant, under the supervision of the Division of Global Health Protection’s (DGHP) Associate Director and Deputy for Management and Operations, provides support on a variety of programmatic, cooperative agreement and administrative issues to assist the DGHP Nigeria and West Africa Regional offices to effectively manage division priorities.
  • The job holder helps with planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of activities, as well as with coordination and high-level correspondence with United States Government (USG), Government of Nigeria (GoN), and West Africa (WA) regional officials.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for fulfilling various other responsibilities that support the functioning of the division, as assigned by his/her supervisor, the DGHP Program Director, and the West Africa Regional Advisor.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Public Health, or Economics is required.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years’ experience in program assistance work with a Public Health program as well as prior experience in the collection, analyses and presentation of information is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Very good knowledge of the theoretical and practical concepts of program and project management is required.
  • Broad perspective and knowledge of the principles of public health programs and practice, including knowledge of organizational and operational concepts and practices applied by public, private and non-profit agencies, and organizations engaged in health-related service delivery is required.
  • Sound knowledge of general office operations and principles is required.
  • A good knowledge of Nigeria’s economic, social culture, and political characteristics is required.
  • Knowledge on West Africa region’s economic, social culture, and political characteristics, are desirable and would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of the Global Health Security/International Health Regulations program is required.
  • Sound knowledge of all aspects of administrative and office support processes, including both secretarial and programmatic support and procedures for processing more specialized and detailed tasks, (e.g., programmatic reports) is required.
  • Vast knowledge of the host country and U.S. operational environment, including a good understanding of government laws and regulations pertaining to training, contracting, legal adherence, development and public health implementation is required.
  • In addition, the job holder must be meticulously familiar with CDC and U.S. Government administrative policies and procedures and the structure and functions of CDC Nigeria including a well-developed knowledge of CDC’s role and function in support of the Global Health Security Agenda/International Health Regulations and intra-agency procedures for coordination with CDC Atlanta and the USG Mission in Nigeria.

Skills and Abilities:

  • The incumbent must have excellent organizational skills with attention to details.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills in order to effectively promote CDC’s collaborative efforts and cooperation with internal and external staff and clients, and to coordinate with US Embassy staff to ensure mutual cooperation are required.
  • Must possess ability to collect, organize and analyze data and narrative reports, internal flow charts, and to present and draft clear and concise reports and information.
  • Must be able to use data to determine strengths and weaknesses of program activities, and to make recommendations to higher level decision makers.
  • Must have the ability to multitask effectively, the ability to interpret and apply written administrative, operational and protocol guidelines, policies and procedures, and the ability to plan and establish effective schedules for meeting CDC Nigeria support requirements.
  • The incumbent must be an intermediate level user of word processing, spreadsheets, and office software, and possess standard numerical skills.
  • The job holder must have the ability to work as a team member, work well with professionals above and below them organizationally and function well in a high-stress and dynamic atmospheres.

Agency Benefits:

  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
