The International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC- (www.icrc.org) is an independent humanitarian organisation, neutral and impartial. Yola Sub Delegation is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy below

Under the supervision of the direct supervision EcoSec Delegate, the Nutritionist Field Officer plans, implements and monitors the ICRC’s nutrition programmes in the Areas of Responsibility of Yola sub-delegation in line with the country strategy. She/He is the focal person for all the nutrition activities performed in Yola sub-delegation. Therefore, she/he participates in the assessments needed and assures a proper follow up of the projects that are being implemented including the performance of the materials and tools needed for each activity. She/He also has an active and recurrent communication with the Economic Security (EcoSec) team in the sub-delegation and with the nutrition team in Abuja and participates in the regular internal reporting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the planning of project activities in the areas of intervention (writing project proposals and participate in the design of concept notes or other nutrition projects related documents).
  • Participates in Economic Security (EcoSec) or other departments assessments or perform independent assessments to determine the need and the implementation manner of the nutrition projects.
  • Conducts analysis of the situation, assessments during emergencies and proposes interventions 
  • In close collaboration with other departments, prepare all documents required as per ICRC’s procedures for the projects’ implementation (SR, donation certificates, weekly movement plan.
  • Contributes to the design of program activities.
  • Oversees the application and implementation of administrative and logistical procedures of the projects / program.
  • Plans and organizes field trips to follow up on activities in the field according to the frequency required by the program.
  • Implements and monitors program activities, according to the timing and type of monitoring established.
  • Conducts the distributions needed for the nutrition programs.
  • Create and assure the implementation of the data collection tools needed for the monitoring of the projects.
  • Perform the monitoring activities required for each project.
  • Organizes and supervises the execution of training sessions and / or nutritional awareness activities in collaboration with the volunteers of the National Society, as well as the nutritionists or other actors of the Ministry of Health.
  • Ensure the inclusion and participation of the community and community stakeholders in the implementation and monitoring of the project.
  • Ensure that nutritional education sessions, cooking demonstrations are carried out according to the pre-established schedule.
  • Serves as a focal point for the stakeholders involved in the programs including volunteers from the National Society, PHCC personnel, Nutritionists from the Ministry of Health and others.
  • Follows-up on Supply Requests and liaises with other departments.
  • Assures and adequate follow up of the budget dedicated to the projects that are being implemented.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutritional science or its equivalent or Degree in other related health sciences with relevant work experience.
  • 3 years cognate experience working in Nutrition in International Humanitarian Organizations, entities or NGOs.

Desired Profile

  • Experience working in community nutrition.
  • Conversant with Nigerian National CMAM, IYCF and GMP technical protocols.
  • Good field work skills and ready to spend between 50-75% of the time in the field.
  • Understanding of humanitarian cluster/sector systems.
  • Experience in semi-remote follow up.
  • Fluent in local language e.g., Hausa.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Power point, others).
