Main objective and responsibility of the position

Plan, organize, and supervise nursing activities and the nursing team in line with MSF values, policies, and protocols, as well as universal health standards, to ensure the quality, continuity, and effectiveness of nursing care during emergency and outbreak responses.

The Nursing Team Supervisor will support Nigeria Emergency Response Unit (NERU) activities and be available for rapid deployment to respond to outbreaks and other emergency situations across the MSF‑OCA mission in Nigeria.

Nigeria Emergency Response Unit (NERU) Scenarios:

• Water Borne Disease: Cholera
• Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs): Diphtheria, Measles and Meningitis
• Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers (VHFs): Lassa fever and Dengue
• Nutrition Crisis exacerbated by food insecurity, conflict, population displacements, and as a result of climate change
• Displacement Related Scenarios: Flood & Conflict/Violence
• Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV)
• Mass Casualty Incidence/Planning

• Organize, coordinate, and supervise the activities of the nursing team, including duty rosters, leave planning, and performance follow‑
• Ensure implementation and adherence to MSF nursing protocols, hygiene standards, and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) procedures.
• Provide direct nursing care and perform clinical tasks when required, optimizing resources and supporting quality patient care.
• Supervise and support pharmacy and medical equipment management at department level, including stock follow‑up, storage conditions, and monitoring of expired items.
• Ensure that all staff using medical devices are appropriately trained, and that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to protocols.
• Coordinate administrative tasks, patient documentation, data collection, and regular reporting to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date information for decision‑
• Support epidemiological surveillance activities (active and passive), including line‑listing and data collection for epidemic‑prone diseases.
• Participate in outbreak response activities, including case management, investigations, assessments, and vaccination campaigns.
• Train, coach, and supervise nurses, community health workers (CHWs), and emergency pool staff on MSF nursing standards and protocols.
• Liaise and coordinate with Ministry of Health counterparts and other relevant stakeholders during emergency responses.
• Contribute to emergency planning, assessments, reporting, and representation of MSF in line with organizational principles and security rules.
