TITLE: M&E Assistant *2 (local positions)
REPORTING TO: M&E Officer
DUTY STATION: Pulka, Monguno LGAs, Borno State, Nigeria.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The position holder will support planning and execution of monitoring and evaluation, ensuring quality in accordance with accepted standards, providing essential feedback for learning, accountability and decision making for NCA Nigeria. S/he will be responsible for the following:
a. The M&E Assistant will work with the M&E Officer as part of a team to operationalize the M&E system at the field location.
b. The M&E Assistant is responsible for supporting NCA staff and partners to regularly collect, enter, verify, analyse basic data, and make timely database adjustments to measure the impact of the program.
c. The M&E Assistant will work directly with the M&E Officer and will closely coordinate with other program staff to help ensure monitoring and evaluation data is accurately incorporated into all reports and information products.

JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
✓ Understand and maintain M&E systems that improve NCAs’ ability to inform program implementation.
✓ Regularly review data entered into the M&E system to locate and fix problems with data entry or integrity such as avoiding double counting of beneficiaries.
✓ Ensure field teams always have the most recent version of all M&E tools and documents.
✓ Develop weekly reports highlighting success, challenges, recommendations, and way forward.
✓ Coordinate with field staff on regular basis to enhance transparency of the programme.
✓ Review or edit data in reports as requested and required.
✓ Work as part of a team to facilitate and support M&E operations including baseline, end-line surveys, regular monitoring, M&E reports, assessments, and data collection for analysis and reporting according to the M&E work plan. ✓ Facilitate data analysis with the program implementation team as requested.
✓ Carry out any other duties as assigned or required.
✓ Act as the Complaint and Response (CRM) focal person in field location.
✓ The M&E Assistant ensures the centrality of protection, GBV mainstreaming and respect of CHS and AAP standards in monitoring, evaluation, and feedback activities.

As such, the s/he is responsible:

  1. for respecting the integration of CHS and for inclusion of all vulnerable groups in every stage of Project Cycle Management (PCM).
  2. Ensures an environment sensitive approach in conducting field work.
  3. that all data in assessments, plans and reports are gender and age disaggregated.
  4. For support to initiatives related to the establishment of gender, age and diversity sensitive Complaint Response Mechanism.
  5. Implementation of ACT Alliance Code of Conduct.

Additional Job Responsibilities
The job duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the Post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential

• Excellent IT skills including good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word
• Proven experience using tools/data collection systems (Kobo collect, ODK etc)
• High degree of proficiency in written and spoken English & Hausa languages. Understanding of Kanuri, Shua and Mandara language is a plus.
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the social, political, and ethical issues related to the communities.
• Ability to establish strong working relationship with colleagues from different function and cultures.
• Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising high workload and multiple tasks in a high paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Capacity of proactively identifying and addressing issues related to programme implementation.
• Commitment to the aims and principles of NCA.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in relevant field such as Statistics, Information Technology, Business Administration, Public Relations and other MEAL related courses.
