Position: Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant
Duration: 4 months
Objectives:
- To pilot a comprehensive approach that addresses immediate humanitarian needs, promotes sustainable development, and contributes to peacebuilding efforts in conflict-affected areas.
- To strengthen coordination and collaboration between humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding actors, fostering synergies and maximizing impact.
- To support the implementation of durable solutions for displaced populations, including return, resettlement, and local integration.
Target Areas:
The pilot project will be implemented in Borno State, focusing on regions affected by protracted conflict and displacement. These areas face significant humanitarian needs, limited access to basic services, and ongoing challenges related to peace and stability.
Purpose
The MEAL Assistant is to ensure that all FOURCi’s projects and programs are effectively monitored, evaluated, and continuously improved. He/she should track progress, assess program impact, and ensure accountability to stakeholders by establishing feedback mechanisms. The role involves data collection, analysis, reporting, and the implementation of feedback and learning mechanisms to ensure accountability to stakeholders, including beneficiaries and donors. To this end, the MEAL officer will liaise with FOURCi’s staff across departments to ensure compliance with FOURCi’s MEAL SOPs. Additionally, he/she is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities within the FOURCi’s implementation area.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead in data collection efforts for the HDP Nexus project, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to derive actionable insights and recommendations from project data.
- Monitor the implementation of programs, ensuring that activities are carried out according to standards and protocols.
Accountability. - Ensure the project is implementing the 3 pillars of Accountability – Information sharing, participation and feedback & reporting and providing relevant documentation.
- Conduct data validity and accuracy audits to ensure data quality.
- Support MEAL and project staff in timely development and implementation of monitoring framework and tools.
- Establish and manage feedback and complaints mechanisms to ensure that beneficiaries and stakeholders can easily provide input.
- Monitor and respond to feedback and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Provide training and support to project staff on MEAL tools, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications (Know How)
Educational Training and Skills:
- Minimum of BSc or equivalent qualification in, Economics, Statistics, Development Planning, Social Work or Demography, Computer Science, or any related courses.
- Experience in implementing multisectoral interventions which includes sectors such as Food Security and Livelihoods, MPCA, health, nutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
- At least 3 years of experience working in MEAL for Humanitarian/developmental organizations.
- Good command of English both verbal and written.
- Good personal and organizational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Ability to coordinate and work with diverse groups of people based in multiple locations.
- Willingness and ability to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities that may require overtime or extended hours.
