Notify Health is an early-stage nonprofit dedicated to ensuring all Nigerian children receive life-saving immunizations. We use simple SMS and automated voice calls to help caregivers remember and track vital vaccination appointments. Research shows that up to half of missed vaccinations occur because caregivers are unaware of additional visits or forget to return. As a tech-focused yet pragmatic organization, we build on existing government systems and the widespread use of cellphones by partnering with local CSOs to collect essential information—such as a child’s birth date, name, and caregiver’s phone number—and send timely immunization reminders through our mass messaging system. Additionally, we explore other cost-effective innovations to increase vaccine uptake. This approach makes it easier for primary healthcare centers and caregivers to collaborate, leading to better health outcomes for children.
Notify Health is a small NGO with a BIG mission. We are fast-moving and constantly innovating our approach. As a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) officer at Notify Health you will have the opportunity to grow professionally while enabling the evolution of our program through high quality data. Notify Health has completed a pilot project in Kogi State where we enrolled more than 2,000 children in the program over 3 months. This year we are looking to expand our program to help more than 20,000 caregivers of newborn children across two states and this is only the start of our journey.

About the MEL Officer Role
- Data and evidence are central to our work. As Notify Health continues to scale our vaccination reminder programs across Nigeria, we are looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) officer who will ensure excellence in data collection, analysis, and reporting by executing high-volume monitoring and evaluation tasks with efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- The MEL Officer role is centered around hands-on execution of routine data processes.
- You will spend a substantial share of your week reviewing data submissions from health workers and partner staff, grading them, deciding what is usable, correcting errors, and providing feedback that helps improve our data quality over time.
- You will conduct routine audits and data analysis to ensure a high-quality program.
- You will also play an important role in the evolution of our data pipeline.
- As the person who sees our processes more often than anyone else, you will be in the best position to identify what is inefficient or prone to error and to propose improvements.
- This is an ideal role for someone enthusiastic about technology, with a few years of M&E experience, who is excellent at careful, detailed data work and wants to use their skills to improve children’s health.
Role responsibilities
Executing the MEL system (60%):
- Review data submissions from health workers and field staff, and provide clear feedback to improve record-keeping and photo quality.
- Conduct continuous auditing of program and project implementation and produce thoughtful reports and recommendations.
- Support program evaluation activities through data processing, cleaning, and analysis.
Facilitating an accurate digitization process (20%):
- Review photos of health records, and determine which go to data entry and which are discarded.
- Oversee digitization by data entry staff, ensuring timelines are met and troubleshooting issues where required.
- Review completed data entries for quality issues and mistakes before enrolling caregivers for reminders.
- Review, adjudicate, and determine the likely cause of data entry discrepancies.
- Produce feedback and reports for the data entry team.
Improving processes, training, and learning (20%):
- Travel to key training days, and teach SurveyCTO data collection and data entry using our forms, templates, and processes.
- Contribute MEL learnings to regular program meetings in each implementation State
- Propose and implement ways to make M&E processes more efficient, such as through process improvements, automations, or template improvements.
Requirements
About you:
- You’re a careful, reliable, and detail-oriented data person who is comfortable handling a high volume of routine data tasks, maintaining high accuracy throughout.
- You notice when something looks off in a dataset, and you troubleshoot and communicate problems clearly and promptly.
- You don’t shy away from advocating process improvements to help our program and data systems run more robustly and efficiently. Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant field such as Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Development Economics, Computer Science, or Business Administration.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning, program analytics, or similar data-driven roles in health or development programs.
- Strong practical skills with spreadsheets, particularly Google Sheets, for data management, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to execute repetitive data processes with high accuracy.
- Clear and proactive communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Fluency in Nigerian Pidgin.
- Comfortable working remotely with a home office setup including reliable internet and a laptop or desktop.
- Strong alignment with Notify Health’s mission and a commitment to using data honestly and rigorously.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with digital data collection platforms such as SurveyCTO, ODK, or KoboToolbox.
- Experience training others to use data tools
- Additional Nigerian languages, particularly Ebira, Tiv, or Fulfulde
- Experience in the Nigerian health system, ideally on programs working directly with CSOs, health workers, and facility-level data. Immunisation experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with data analysis or automation tools such as SQL, Google Data Studio, or Google Apps Script
Other details:
- Location: Nigeria, remote (Abuja preferred).
- Travel: Up to 10%, mainly to our implementation sites.
- Contract: 12 months with possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
- Hours: Full time.

Compensation:
