In the document of the council, populorum progression of 1967, Pope Paul VI wrote,“The progressive development of people is an object of deep interest and concern of the church. This is particularly true in the case of those people who are trying to escape the ravages of hunger, poverty endemic disease and ignorance; of those who are seeking a large share in the benefit of civilization and more active improvement on their human qualities; of whose are consciously striving for fuller growth with an even clear awareness.” To build a society where justice and equity are enthroned for human development.

Job Description
- The Bakhita Initiative (TBI-JDPC) Sokoto is a faith-based non-governmental organization committed to promoting human dignity, social justice, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.
- The organization implements humanitarian and development interventions across Northwest Nigeria, focusing on vulnerable and crisis-affected populations.
- Under the ECHO SAHARA Project, TBI-JDPC Sokoto delivers life-saving assistance through integrated programming, including Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA).
Position Summary
- The MEAL Assistant will support the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities for the ECHO SAHARA Project.
- The role focuses on field-level data collection, data management, and supporting accountability systems to ensure quality programming and compliance with donor standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support routine data collection activities, including baseline, monitoring, and post-distribution monitoring (PDM).
- Assist in administering surveys and using digital data collection tools (e.g., KoboCollect, ODK).
- Ensure accurate data entry, cleaning, and basic analysis under the supervision of the MEAL Officer.
- Support the implementation of Feedback and Complaint Response Mechanisms (FCRM).
- Assist in field monitoring visits and data verification exercises.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of MEAL-related records.
- Support the preparation of reports, summaries, and data visualizations.
- Engage with beneficiaries and community stakeholders to promote accountability and transparency.
- Perform any other MEAL-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- National Diploma (ND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in data collection or supporting MEAL activities.
- Experience in humanitarian or community-based programs is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with digital data collection tools (e.g., KoboCollect, ODK) is desirable.
- Basic understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts.
- Fluency in English and Hausa is required.
