In 2011, PharmAccess, Council for Health Service Accreditation Southern Africa (COHSASA) and Joint Commission International(JCI)created SafeCare standards, the first quality standards accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (ISQua EEA) for health facilities in resource-restricted settings. SafeCare’s internationally recognized standards create a transparent improvement path that offers clinics positive incentives to move steadily upwards in quality.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: MomCare Consultant, SafeCare
Location: Lagos
Duration: 6 months
The Position
- As MomCare Consultant, you will support the implementation of the MomCare Program in healthcare facilities in Lagos State.
- The consultant will be responsible for abstracting patient information from case notes and electronic medical records, supporting enrolment of pregnant women into the program, providing technical support to healthcare providers, ensuring all enrollees/beneficiaries access required maternal and childcare, ensuring care documentation is complete at every visit.
- You will promote SafeCare’s proposition, products and services within the health facilities.
- Our initiatives are aimed at equipping healthcare providers with clinical and business tools and skills to improve the quality of care to patients.
- You will provide technical support to health facility staff on quality improvement and report to the Program Director SafeCare.
Specific Responsibilities
Technical Assistance:
- Participate in SafeCare Quality Assessment in the designated health facilities
- Support facilitation of Quality Improvement Plans in designated health facilities
- Support enrolment of pregnant women into the MomCare program
- Provide technical support to healthcare providers in target facilities
- Ensure all enrollees/beneficiaries access required maternal and child care
- Ensure healthcare providers complete care documentation of pregnant women at every visit
- Identify eligible medical records for abstraction.
- In collaboration with facility medical records staff, retrieve patient medical records for abstraction and return them to a designated location after abstraction.
- Review medical records and complete chart abstraction for pregnant women accessing ANC services, delivery services and post-natal care services.
- Ensure all medical records are processed and transmitted promptly.
- Conduct first level quality assurance of data entry at the facilities during chart abstraction.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Nurse / Midwife, preferably combined with a Public Health Degree e.g. MPH
- At least 2-5 years work experience in clinical health settings;
- Good knowledge of quality improvement approaches in healthcare and data management processes;
- Capable of interacting professionally and constructively with facility owners and managers, clinic staff and others;
- Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, ability to work effectively with different professional cadres within Government and the private sector;
- Proven planning and coordination skills with an eye for detail;
- Critical thinking, research and technical writing skills;
- Computer literacy including use of Microsoft Office suite, databases and web applications;
- Awareness of relevant trends and new (mobile) technologies in healthcare;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
