BACKGROUND

Advocacy for Resilience and Innovative Solutions for Youths, Women, and Children Empowerment (ARISE Youths, Women, and Children) is a women-led, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the prolonged hardships caused by insurgency, natural disasters, and economic adversity into pathways for growth and renewal.
Our organization is dedicated to contributing to efforts that address pressing needs within vulnerable communities. We work alongside partners to support initiatives in areas like education, food-security and livelihood, protection, climate action, good governance and Health/nutrition. By focusing on these areas, we aim to empower marginalized populations especially youth, women, and children creating pathways to resilience and sustainable growth.


Qualification: MBBS, RN, RM, B.Sc Nursing, or relevant medical qualifications

Experience: At least 2 and above years of clinical experience in healthcare delivery

Location: Maiduguri, Borno, Nigeria

Job Field: NGO/Non-Profit

Duration: 6 months

The Medical Practitioner (Volunteer) role is strictly a FREE SERVICE TO HUMANITY. It is designed for licensed medical professionals who are passionate and willing to selflessly offer their healthcare skills to serve vulnerable communities. There is no financial compensation attached to this position.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Medical Practitioner (volunteer) is responsible for supporting the health and well-being of vulnerable community members, particularly women, children, and youths. The role focuses on delivering basic healthcare services, conducting health education, and contributing to health outreach activities within ARISE’s community programs. Practitioners will collaborate with ARISE staff and partners to improve community access to essential healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide basic healthcare services and health education to community members.
  • Support community sensitization, screenings, and health outreach activities.
  • Offer advice on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care practices.
  • Assist in early identification of health issues and referrals to local facilities.
  • Collaborate with ARISE program coordinators and other volunteers to support health initiatives.

Qualification and Requirements

  • A valid medical qualification and practicing license (doctor, nurse, midwife, etc.).
  • Strong passion for healthcare delivery and improving community health.
  • Ability to dedicate at least two sessions per week (about 2–3 hours each).
  • Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to community service.
  • Willingness to undergo basic safeguarding and community health training (provided by ARISE).

Language required:

Fluency in oral and written English is required, and Native Language of the area would be an added advantage.
