Background
Justice, Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI) is a non-governmental organization engaged in developmental works in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States for the past 50 years. JDPI also focuses on Agriculture, WaSH, Nutrition, MHPSS and other emergency programming, reaching out to all persons on the basis of need, regardless of creed, ethnicity or nationality.
JDPI is inviting suitably qualified candidates for the above-mentioned position to work in Jere, Magumeri LGA.
Candidate must be prepared to start work as soon as possible.
Duration: 10 Months with possible extension based on performance
Location: Maiduguri (Jere and Magumeri LGA)
Post Description:
Under the direction of the JDPC MEAL Manager and CRS MEAL Officer, MEAL Assistant will be responsible for all MEAL related support activities including, but not limited to: monitoring progress on project indicators, elaboration of M&E tools, conducting needs/post activity assessments, beneficiary database management, recalibration of beneficiary targeting at project mid-point, development and implementation of accountability mechanism as well as compilation of monthly, bi-monthly, and quarterly reports.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation and Technical Support
- Will assist the WASH Technical Officer in the coordination of the WASH Technical activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans
- Track the project performances vs. project indicators
- Assist in regular monitoring exercise such as Onsite Monitoring and Post Distribution Surveys that include Focused Group Discussion.
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data on project activities as required.
- Assist in proper documentation and filing of all MEAL & Program documents.
- Ensure the MEAL checklists are completed for each MEAL activity.
- Prepare activity report on a daily basis after each field visit and report to MEAL Officer, SPO.
- Support the MEAL team to conduct beneficiary registration exercise and spot-check visits to the project sites.
- Support the MEAL team in any MEAL related training activities.
- Actively participate in MEAL learning exercise, compiling, and keeping log sheet for key lessons learnt and good practices from all evaluations and assessments.
- Assist in the review and testing all M&E tools.
- In coordination with the MEAL Manager and CRS MEAL team, maintain the project’s stock of IT equipment (including vendor phones, program phones, solar panels, Bluetooth printers, etc.).
- With support from MEAL manager, support the timely submission of the planned assessment report, post-distribution monitoring reports, and evaluation reports.
- Support the development and testing of electronic data entry questionnaires using the Commcare (or other software as needed) during periodic surveys and data analysis using appropriate statistical package.
- Support the training of enumerators, and community mobilizers on data collection tools and the utilization of devices.
Coordination and Representation
- Work closely with program team to
- Ensure JDPI infrastructure activities are aligned with government and donor-funded initiatives.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Support and ensure the project mid-term evaluation and project’s Real Time Evaluation are conducted in a timely manner and as per donor’s regulations
- Provide timely reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) on project implementation.
- Ensure accountability to beneficiaries and stakeholders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Sc. or Higher Diploma in Geology, Civil and Water Resources Engineering, and Hydrology
- Bachelor’s Degree/HND in Social Sciences, Information and Technology Management, Statistics, or any other relevant equivalent degree.
- At least 1-year full-time experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning, preferably with an international NGO.
- High degree of competence and comfort with information and communication technology used for MEAL
- Strong group process design and facilitation skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to organize and prioritize a variety of initiatives.
- Demonstrable experience working with Information and Communication Technologies (software and hardware).
- Demonstrated commitment to gender-responsive and safe/dignified programming.
- Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities.
- Understanding of NGOs’ and other entities’ responsibility to protect beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse.
- Languages: English and Hausa.
