Purpose

  • Logistician 1 provides technical and operational support in the areas of purchasing, warehousing, stock management and statistics, in accordance with the ICRC’s logistics standards and local legislation.

Accountabilities & Functional Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth coordination across logistics units (Fleet, Transport, Warehouse, Procurement).
  • Ensure compliance with ICRC logistics procedures and security rules.
  • Demonstrate professional competence and mastery of Logistics.
  • Follow up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments
  • Provide logistical support to field sites under the supervision of the LSM
  • Provides technical support and training for the operation and implements logistic procedures.
  • Liaise with other logistics units in MIU (e.g. Supply Chain, Fleet, Warehousing, Dispatch, AirOps).
  • Ensure ICRC procurement rules are applied.
  • Analyse situation and proposes contractual partners.
  • Develop contracts, maintains and updates a network of providers.
  • Ensure that ICRC Logistics systems are in place and operational.
  • Contribute to the development and advancement of Logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with Logistics standards (set-up, processes, and procedures) and economic use of all resources.
  • Ensure compliance with security rules and regulations pertinent to Logistics.
  • Manage proper use of Logistics Information System (JD Edwards, Integrated Resources Information System IRIS)

Certifications / Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education degree in business administration, logistics or similar field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in logistics, administration, or similar position.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. Knowledge of local languages an asset.
  • Computer skills (proficiency in MS Office).
  • Skilled in the following competencies: Autonomy & Responsibility; Planning, Organization & Assessment; Communication (Ability to express views and ideas); Analysis & Synthesis.
  • Driving licence
  • Applicant must have a valid working permit to work in Nigeria
