  • It is awarded to a consortium led by the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) and comprising the Base-of-the-Pyramid Innovation Center (BoPInc) and the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV).

Agribusiness Cluster Development:

  • 2SCALE employs a holistic approach for inclusive agribusiness development. This approach is framed in to 4 pillars. The 4 pillars include local business championship, Agribusiness Cluster Development, BoP marketing and enabling agribusiness environment.
  • Here, agribusiness cluster development is the pillar towards grassroot actor’s empowerment to improve productivity and business connectedness to result in coordinated and increased food production and marketing.
  • Agribusiness cluster is an informal local network of business actors around smallholder farmers with specific product and market combination. This requires first identification of the geographical coverages of ABCs around the business champions, identification, and mapping of the actors.
  • To develop capacities and facilitate networking, having ABC coaches is instrumental. For ABC coaches to play their role of networking and empowering of ABC actors, building their capacity through training, coaching, and mentoring is relevant. Hence, 2SCALE uses cyclical approach/learning cycles as introduction of the topic, coaching and review to develop the capacity of coaches.
