Furthermore, in 2019, the Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM), which is run jointly by GIZ and the German Federal Employment Agency, placed 262 integrated experts and 515 returning experts with local employers in our partner countries, or provided them with financial support, advice or other services.

Programme:

 The global project AgFin in Nigeria aims to improve the provision of financial services to agricultural and agri-based enterprises in rural areas that are tailored to their business models. The project is closely linked to the global project "Green Innovation Centres in the Agricultural and Food Sector (GIAE)" and cooperates with the regional project "Competitive African Rice Initiative" (CARI) as well as the bilateral project "Pro-poor Growth and Promotion of Employment in Nigeria Programme" (SEDIN). Part of the project implementation is carried out by a contracted consulting firm. 

The project is part of the One World – No Hunger Initiative. It provides training to enterprises in the agriculture sector supporting these enterprises in acquiring business management and financial skills The project also advises and supports the expansion of financial institutions into the agricultural sector and assists them with developing adapted financial services. This process is based on business models the project has identified as viable. Particular attention is paid to the needs of businesses owned by women and young people. Innovations that promote the environmentally aware transformation of agricultural systems receive special attention. The project is operating in a total of 11 states, namely Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, CrossRiver and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). 

The project supports agricultural institutions, advisory services and their educational organisations in sustainably mainstreaming the knowledge products developed by the project. It also makes analysis and training tools available to other projects, and shares its experience of implementation.

Responsibilities & tasks:

 A.  Responsibilities  

The junior admin officer will support the Finance and admin manager and the programme coordinator of the project “Promotion of Agricultural Finance for agri-based Enterprises in Rural Areas” (AgFin) in the coordination of the project administrative activities with GIZ Country Office in Nigeria.

Under the direct supervision of the Finance and admin manager the junior admin officer will:

• Provide administrative support and logistics for the office meetings and events.
• Handle the project cash and bank accounting
• Support the project procurement of goods and services in line with GIZ processes and rules

The Admin assistant performs the following tasks:

B. Tasks

  1. Administrative support and logistics for the office He/she will
    • Provide general administrative supports (Printing, copying and scanning of documents) for the GIZ AgFin project and filing documents according to GIZ filing system
    • Assist in the preparation of workshop/event materials, agenda, logistic attendance and provide admin support during project events
    • Support the day to day office management for project and the periodic inventory checks and rebelling of assets of the projects
    • Handle the project travel arrangements and liaise with country office travel & logistics unit as the projects travel focal person on issues on travels and visa processing
  2. Projects cash and bank accounting He/she will • Handle the cash payments and reconciliation for the project
    • Handle cash and bank posting for the project and settlement of pending cash transactions (travel advance, verification of invoices etc)
    • Handle the filing of accounting/voucher folders according to GIZ filing system
    • Support preparation for internal control for the project
  3. Support the project procurement of good and services He/she will
    • Assist in the preparation of procurement process and contract process in line with GIZ process and rules
    • Monitor appraisers and consulting firms contracts and ensures timely presentation of final invoices
    • Check invoices for contracts and procurement for correctness before payment or submission to country office
  4. Other duties/additional tasks
    He/she will

    ▪ Performs other duties and tasks at the request of the Finance and admin manager

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance/accounting, business management, or related field

Professional Experience
▪ At least 3 years of professional working experience in a similar position
▪ Broad experience in administration, and procurement management
▪ Experience in GIZ project or other development / corporate organisations is an added advantage
