We federate 188 national human rights associations active in 116 countries. For us, the transformation of societies is primarily the responsibility of local actors. Our activities aim to strengthen their’action capacity and their influence.
The International Secretariat, which deploys FIDH’s missions on a daily basis, is composed of’ an international team of 70 employees based at its headquarters in Paris and in its other offices (Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and elsewhere,Thailand, Colombia, African continent), as well as consultants intervening punctually on different programs. It is structured in a Directorate of Operations and Programs and a Directorate of Advocacy as well as Support Directions (Communication, Finance, Fund Research, Human Resources..).
We are recruiting a.e : INTERN AT BUREAU DEFENSEUR.ES – 6 MONTHS
The trainee will participate in the development activities of the Office Defender.es and will support the many ongoing projects. Within’a service composed of 5 employees /consultant.es, it will be particularly associated with the following activities :
- Participation in public mobilization, urgent warning and advocacy activities on the situation of human rights defenders at risk worldwide (press releases, letters to authorities, statements, etc, urgent calls): research, verification of’information, drafting (in french, english or spanish) and validation process.
- Participation in the communication actions of the Office Defender.es: publication of alerts on Twitter, the websites of FIDH and the’Observatoire pour la protection des defenders de droits humaines, etc, and the mailing lists of the’Observatoire, communication campaigns on defenders, others.
- Participation in the development of’an annual mapping project on the situation of human rights defenders in the world.
- Participation in the’ grant of emergency grants to human rights defenders at risk or protection capacity building grants for local human rights organisations.
- Participation in the’organisation of’ workshops, seminars, webinars or trainings.
- Depending on the needs and the’actuality, the trainee will be able to participate in’ other files and provide support to’ other activities.
Profile of the trainee :
- Currently in graduate training Bac +4/5 in international law, human rights, international relations, political science
- Good knowledge of international human rights law.
- Good writing ability in French (level C1), English (level C1), Spanish (level B2 minimum), mastery of’another language is an asset.
- Rigor and attention to detail.
- Ability to’adaptation especially to work with the’environment Libre Office.
- In full agreement with the values at work of the International Secretariat of FIDH (professionalism, respect, commitment, equality, integrity, participation, audacity), as well as’ with the fights carried out by FIDH for the defense of human rights of all, everywhere in the world, explained in particular in its statutes and through its publications accessible from its website : www.fidh.org.
Conditions :
- Full-time internship (39 hours per week) from May 2, 2024 to October 31, 2024 (6 months).
- Mandatory condition: to have an internship agreement issued by a school under French law.
- Monthly gratification of 659,76 € (ie 4,35€ per hour). Dematerialized restaurant tickets card of’a face value of 9 €, supported 60% by FIDH. Sustainable mobility package for travel home – work
- 12 Days of RTT over the period and acquisition of 2 days of paid leave per month
- The course will take place at the FIDH headquarters in Paris and partly in telework.
