The International Center for Investigative Reporting, the ICIR, is an independent, non-profit news agency that promotes transparency and accountability through robust and objective investigative reporting. The ICR’s mission is to promote good governance and entrench democratic values by reporting, exposing, and combating corruption. The Center is envisioned to be a catalyst in encouraging and fostering a tradition of journalistic excellence through creative investigative reporting, online publishing, and training programs.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Driver
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description
- This role will be responsible for driving the assigned person to and from designated areas.
- Perform basic inspection of the vehicle and ensure that vehicles are in good condition
Responsibilities
- Dress smartly
- Ensure that vehicles are kept perfect and clean at all times by washing both the inside and outside parts of the vehicle
- Carry out routine checks on vehicles and ensure they are sound
- Recognize electrical and mechanical faults and report to the employer
- Report any instance of mishap or accident to the owner or supervisor
- Perform periodic maintenance on vehicles, such as changing batteries and motor oil at an appropriate time, as well as refueling the car(s).
- Report any case of accident, injury, or damage to vehicles to the owner or supervisor
- Keep all records, including receipts for vehicle maintenance
- Keep up a movement log
Competencies / Skills / Requirements
- A minimum of SSCE / OND qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license
- Must be within 28-38 years of age.
- Good knowledge of Abuja environment and driving regulations
- Must be focused, confident, and observant
- Must be safety conscious
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have a clean driving record
- Sufficient knowledge of traffic laws
- Necessary authorization to drive
- Safe driving practices
- Able to follow verbal directions, read maps, follow GPS.
