Grow Strong foundation (GSF) Borno state Office is one of the leading NGO implementing the humanitarian response to IDPs in collaboration with United nation agencies and other international organisation. As part of GSF responsibility to meet the set goal of the partnership project, the organization is seeking for a qualified hand to handle the vacant position.

Job title:  Information officer                
Reporting to: MEAL Manager  
Salary Scale: N120,000 up to N210,000

Purpose: To provide support to project staff and ensure that all project activities are in line with attaining set goals and objectives of the project and build their capacity in data management, analysis, and reporting.

The overall role of the Information Management Officer (IMO) is to ensure that information required to support humanitarian operations is collected, organized, and distributed to all stakeholders. IMOs can be deployed as both generalists and geographic information system (GIS) experts. Database building and maintenance are furthermore among typical IMO tasks. 

Duty Station: Borno State with Regular visit to project site in Adamawa and Yobe State  Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement and regularly update the Information Management Strategy and the Dissemination Plan for all information management related products produced by the relevant sector or agency. 
  • Design necessary data collection forms, ensuring that the purpose and use of data collected is clear and that questions are simple, clear, and collectable. 
  • Organize and manage data input from data collection forms and conduct initial analysis of the data. 
  • Based on the data collected, conduct needs and gap identification for the relevant sector. 
  • Proactively gather information from relevant sector partners, UN agencies and other organizations which may be of use to the employing agency or Sector for informing decisions. 
  • Develop an information-sharing platform as a web-portal and Social Media. 
  • Perform advisory and technical assignments in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 
  • Locate GIS datasets and/or GIS contacts from various agencies, countries, cities, and explicit districts. 
  • Organize and maintain GIS data in accordance with the relevant agency data management protocols. 
  • Update 5Ws matrix and GBV-CPIMS database with information and data from the relevant sector. 
  • Identify appropriate secondary data and information resources. 
  • Provide information management services to support population data management activities including population estimation, information flows from established systems, movement tracking, standard-setting/promotion and dissemination. 
  • Participate in sector and inter-sector meetings representing GSF and provide the necessary support in presenting the relevant data and information. 
  • Provide advice concerning information management issues to the MEAL Manager 
  • Any other Task assigned.

Essential Criteria

  • A university degree in Statistic or international policy, social science, international development studies or other relevant degree or equivalent experience. 
  • At least 2 to 3 years of progressively professional and practical experience in the field of Information management, Monitoring and Evaluation. 
  • Experience in facilitation and training in data tools, data collection, compilation, analysis and management of M&E database for effective reporting. 
  • Demonstrated high level of conceptual and analytical thinking skills. 
  • Staff management skills and effective leadership 
  • Ability to maintain expected performance in diverse contexts, potentially challenging environments, and physical hardship conditions with limited resources. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and build relationships at all levels, considering cultural and language differences and sensitivities. 
  • Excellent skills in written and spoken English and effective Report Writing skills 
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office software, emails, internet, Corel draw, Photoshop
