Overview

The Implementation Coordinator  – Nigeria will be engaged through TAConnect LTD/GTE and will support the implementation of Laerdal Global Health (LGH) programs, with a particular focus on the Safer Births Bundle of Care (SBBC). Working mainly with state-level government counterparts, health facilities and implementing partners, the role will help translate agreed project plans into practical activities and reliable follow-through.

This is a hands-on implementation role for an early-career professional who is motivated to learn, contribute and grow. The postholder will support trainings, partner coordination, facility follow-up, data collection and routine reporting, under the guidance of more senior implementation colleagues. The role will also serve as a SimBegin trainer and help strengthen regular simulation practice at facility level.

In this role, you will represent LGH as a collaborative partner in health workforce development, healthcare education and simulation-based quality improvement.

Role Purpose

To provide practical, well-coordinated support to partners implementing SBBC and other LGH initiatives at state and facility level. The role owns clearly defined tasks within project plans, works within established processes and escalates challenges when guidance or decisions are needed.

Key Accountabilities

  1. State-level partner and project support
  • Support state-level government teams and implementing partners to plan and carry out agreed SBBC and other LGH project activities.
  • Coordinate day-to-day implementation follow-up, including meeting preparation, activity schedules, participant communication, logistics and documentation.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with State Ministries of Health, training institutions, professional associations, health facilities and implementing partners.
  • Participate in technical meetings, supportive supervision visits and partner reviews, and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Identify operational issues early and escalate them to the appropriate senior colleague, while supporting practical resolution.
  1. Training and simulation support
  • Serve as a SimBegin trainer, or complete the required preparation to become one, and deliver training in line with approved materials and quality standards.
  • Support the planning, facilitation and documentation of SBBC, SimBegin and other relevant LGH trainings in collaboration with partners and senior colleagues.
  • Help facility teams establish and maintain low-dose, high-frequency simulation practice and use available learning tools consistently.
  • Provide practical follow-up to trainers, mentors and facility teams, and share recurring learning needs with senior colleagues.
  • Support accurate use, care and basic orientation of LGH training solutions and escalate technical issues through the appropriate channels.
  1. Monitoring, learning and reporting
  • Collect, verify and organize routine implementation data from supported states, partners and facilities using agreed tools.
  • Maintain up-to-date activity trackers, partner and site mappings, training records and follow-up logs.
  • Contribute to monthly project updates by summarizing progress, implementation barriers, actions and lessons learned.
  • Support documentation of impact stories, partner feedback and practical examples, in coordination with the LGH communications team.
  • Protect the quality and confidentiality of project information and follow agreed data-management processes.
  1. Quality implementation and institutionalization
  • Support partners to implement SBBC and other LGH programs consistently with agreed approaches, tools and standards.
  • Assist with supportive supervision and facility-level quality-improvement activities under the direction of senior technical or implementation colleagues.
  • Support integration of simulation practice into routine facility and training-institution activities.
  • Share observations from the field that can improve implementation approaches, partner support and training quality.
  • Contribute to state-level planning for sustainability and scale-up, without holding primary responsibility for strategy or partner performance.
  1. Team contribution and representation
  • Work closely with LGH colleagues and partners, communicate progress reliably and ask for guidance when needed.
  • Represent LGH professionally in relevant state-level meetings, trainings, site visits and events when delegated.
  • Share learning and practical experiences with the wider Impact & Implementation team.
  • Contribute to a respectful, inclusive and collaborative working environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Clinical or health-related degree, preferably in midwifery, nursing, medicine, public health or a related field.
  • Approximately 3-4 years of relevant experience supporting health programs, training, service delivery or partner implementation; strong internship or field experience may also be considered.
  • Some experience working with maternal and newborn health programs, government health services, health facilities or implementing partners in Nigeria.
  • Interest in simulation-based education, competency development and quality improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to follow through on agreed tasks and deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English; relevant local language skills are an advantage.
  • Confidence using standard digital tools for planning, data entry, presentations and reporting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within supported states and, when required, elsewhere in Nigeria.

Desirable

  • Experience facilitating clinical, simulation or adult-learning sessions.
  • Existing SimBegin trainer status or experience with other LGH learning programs and solutions.
  • Familiarity with SBBC, low-dose high-frequency practice or facility-level quality-improvement approaches.
  • Experience collecting routine program data and contributing to donor or partner reports.

Role Scope

The postholder is responsible for clearly defined implementation and coordination tasks and has no personnel management responsibilities. Strategic direction, complex stakeholder negotiations, donor accountability and final ownership of project outcomes remain with senior implementation colleagues.
