Background:
Center for Advocacy, Transparency, and Accountability Initiative (CATAI), founded in 2018, is a registered NGO with a head office in Maiduguri, Borno State, with offices across Yobe and Adamawa states. We have been visible in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states implementing projects in education, protection (child/GBV), WaSH, nutrition, empowerment/livelihood, governance, and peacebuilding.
Our approach is aligned with our mission to enhance service delivery and empower citizens through our humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding nexus (HDP). CATAI is dedicated to enhancing service delivery through citizen empowerment. Its mission is to promote a just society across all regions in Nigeria through advocacy, research, impact, and innovation, focusing on institutional reforms, capacity building, and citizen empowerment. By creating platforms for dialogue, enabling informed debates, and building citizen capacity, CATAI strengthens local communities, allowing individuals to act as catalysts for addressing societal issues. The organization is committed to advocating for and promoting quality education, particularly for girls in marginalized communities, and utilizing technological means to enhance children’s productivity through knowledge acquisition.
CATAI provides marginalized and vulnerable communities with resources to amplify their voices independently and with integrity. It also promotes social, economic, and environmental progress to enhance democratic governance, citizen participation, and civic engagement.
Project Background
The recent devastating floods in Maiduguri have triggered a severe humanitarian crisis, affecting more than 239,000 individuals. The comprehensive Rapid Needs Assessment Report underscores the critical demand for urgent provision of sanitation and hygiene services, access to clean drinking water, temporary shelter solutions, and essential medical support. CATAI, supported by the Rapid Response Fund (RRF) and the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) in collaboration with the NRC, is actively engaged in a timely project in MMC to address the flood aftermath. The project, encompassing a 3-month duration funded by RRF focusing on WASH and MPCA and a 6-month initiative supported by NHF in consortium with NRC targeting WASH, lays the groundwork for immediate action. In light of these initiatives.

Hygiene Promoters: (60)
Location: MMC/Jere
Job Type: Contract
Reporting to: Hygiene Promotion Assistant
Responsibilities;
- Impart hygiene awareness sessions to children and parents on the significance of hygiene practices Conduct hygiene awareness in a way that behavior change can occur.
- Have a detailed and regular plan for conducting hygiene awareness sessions
- To work for the promotion of Hygiene practices at the community level Make known to the community the importance, significance, and impact of good hygiene practice.
- Pass environmental and personal hygiene, water, and sanitation massages to the related community.
- Build and maintain good relationships with community members and leaders,
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager and other relevant project staff in all issues related to the implementation of hygiene activities.
- Provide daily/weekly progress/activity reports
Motivate the community for contribution in program.
- Keep an updated record of all field activities
Undertakes any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor
Qualification:
- Minimum of BSc or National Diploma Certificate related to hygiene promotion courses with at least 1 years of experience working as a hygiene promotion or public health promotion
- Experience working in an international organization environment.
A good command of the English language is highly desirable.
Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
Ability to work under pressure and be flexible.
- Proven integrity, good character, and good knowledge of local context and preferably residing in the position location. (Community)
