Restoration of Hope Initiative (ROHI) is a Nigerian non-governmental organization working to strengthen education systems and improve outcomes for crisis-affected children in Adamawa, Borno and Taraba States. ROHI partners with communities, government agencies, and donors to design and deliver programs that restore access to quality education and protection for vulnerable children and their families.
Job Summary
ROHI is seeking an experienced and highly organized Human Resources Coordinator to lead the design and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and systems that support the organization’s growing programs. The HR Coordinator will oversee the full employee lifecycle recruitment, onboarding, performance management, staff welfare, compliance, and capacity building while fostering a positive, safe, and productive work culture across all ROHI offices and field locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies, procedures, and staff handbooks in line with Nigerian labour law and donor compliance requirements.
- Lead end-to-end recruitment and selection processes, including job postings, shortlisting, interviews, and onboarding of new staff.
- Coordinate performance management systems, including goal setting, appraisals, and staff development plans.
- Manage staff records, contracts, leave tracking, payroll inputs, and benefits administration.
- Provide guidance to program and field staff on HR policies, code of conduct, and safeguarding standards.
- Lead investigations and resolution of employee relations issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters in a fair and confidential manner.
- Coordinate staff training, capacity building, and organizational development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, pension, NSITF, ITF, etc.) and donor HR compliance standards.
- Support senior management with workforce planning, organograms, and staffing for new projects and grants.
- Champion a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and staff wellbeing across the organization.
- Maintain and update the HR information management system and generate reports for management as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR management experience, with at least 2 years in the NGO/development sector.
- Sound knowledge of Nigerian labour law and statutory HR compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing recruitment, employee relations, and performance management processes.
- Experience working with donor-funded programs and familiarity with donor HR compliance requirements is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency in HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Willingness to travel within Adamawa, Borno and Taraba States as required.
