Health Field Officer 2 (Registered Nurse Midwife), BIU
(5months Maternity Cover)

Under the supervision of the Health Delegate, the Registered Nurse Midwife supports the planning, implementation and monitoring of reproductive health activities in PHC and hospital programs as per the health strategy

Main Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all reproductive health activities in Area of Responsibility (AOR).
• Support other health activities as required. i.e. nutrition, curative care, referrals.
• Ensures that the SOP related to Reproductive health are available in health facilities
• Ensures rational use of drugs,
• Organises and supports trainings on Reproductive Health in collaboration with HD/Senior midwife and PHCDA
• Monitors suspected or confirmed outbreaks including malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and communicable diseases and reports to YOL Health Delegate.
• Contributes to planning, proposals and implementation of response if required.
• Monitors security in Area of Responsibility (AOR) and informs Health delegate if any concerns related to movement of ICRC, program implementation.
• Ensures that drug inventories and orders are completed on time and stocks received in PHC/hospital as required.
• Monitors equipment needs in AOR, ensure rational use and inventory of donated equipment is maintained in each health facility.
• Ensures that items from other agencies/MOH are supplied to the PHCC i.e. PeP kits, HIV tests, Clean delivery kits.

Education and Experience Required
• Degree in Nursing, midwifery, or other related health sciences with relevant experience
• 6-8 years of active practice as a Nurse/midwife
• Must be registered by the Nigeria Nursing and Midwifery council with a valid license
• Good understanding of the context in Southern Borno
• Must be fluent in English, Bura and Hausa languages
• Computer skills – MS word, Excel and PowerPoint

Personal Attributes
• Able to translate local languages to English and vice versa
• Good knowledge of Area of Responsibility and surrounding states
