Its objective is to ensure and promote the implementation of health care and nutrition with quality and relevance, as well as in planning to achieve the objectives and goals of the project, guaranteeing quality in the information collected at the level of the counterparty and the technical implementation team, making periodic reports and monitoring of the necessary processes, procedures and controls.

The main activities you will carry out are the following:

Objective 1: Lead the strategic implementation of the multisectoral project in the localities, including monitoring, monitoring and reporting on implementation.

  • Work closely with the project counterpart implementation team, in all comprehensive health activities services and in other areas to ensure the relevance of activities.
  • Ensure the quality in the execution of health and nutrition activities of the project, by accompanying the technical teams for the implementation of the counterparty in the identified intervention areas.
  • Ensure that the processes of detection, timely management, referral and monitoring of patients with complications by the counterpart implementation technical team, are carried out effectively and under the guidelines of ACH and the Cluster Protocol, timely reporting obstacles in the reference route.
  • Ensure that nutrition and health protocols and guidelines are consistent and used, respected and implemented by the counterpart implementation team in accordance with the Action Against Hunger policies.
  • Support and guide the activities of the project’s educational strategy in accordance with ACH guidelines, respecting the intercultural and differential approach.
  • Strengthen the technical capacities of the counterpart implementation team, through an analysis of the training needs, preparation and execution of a training plan, with monitoring and accompaniment
  • Responsible for carrying out a monitoring plan on processes, procedures and controls with specific technical guidelines for health and nutrition activities, within the standards of humanitarian action and ACH’s mandate.
  • Follow up on the health, nutritional and humanitarian situation of vulnerable areas / populations / communities in the project coverage area, using primary and external sources (communities, donors, multilateral agencies, government, other NGOs, etc.) and internal
  • Accompany and support the periodic review of the operation of the project’s pharmacy management processes, as well as the consumption of medicines and supplies, alert/stock breaks and the purchase or donation forecast.
  • Know, promote, implement and follow at all times universal hygiene standards / precautions, prevention of biological hazards and control of infections, safety rules and other protocols in medical facilities and ensure that high hygiene standards are met in your work environment.

OBJECTIVE 2: Accompany the counterparts towards achieving objectives and meeting quality goals.

  • Continuously accompany the counterpart in the field, in order to promote teamwork, collaboration, coordination and exchange of experiences, ideas, work methodologies and the collective creation of comprehensive strategies
  • Design comprehensive work plans together with the counterpart technical implementation team, accompanied by the project manager, which clearly define: the required contributions, the objectives, the expected results, and goals to achieve.
  • Develop and implement mechanisms for regular monitoring of counterparts and the technical implementation team, sharing key improvement opportunities, providing feedback and monitoring action plans.
  • Under the principles of confidentiality and the data protection policy, it exchanges with the ACH multidisciplinary team the results of evaluations, support plans, needs detected in the field.
  • It promotes monitoring and evaluation mechanisms among counterparts and field teams, to maintain accurate records (means of verification) and to support them in monitoring and development activities.

OBJECTIVE 3: Strengthen the external relations of the projects with local actors related to the sectors of interest.

  • When required, you will attend specific meetings such as local coordination mechanisms in ACH or other specialized clusters of interest in the care area
  • Systematically draws up minutes of the meetings, reporting them in the NHF space intended for this purpose with the aim of bringing traceability
  • Participates in the updated creation and maintenance of the database of the main external actors and allies in their work area and / or others in entrusted missions.
  • Prepare a mapping of easily updated actors on primary health care services (SRS, SMAPS, Health, Nutrition) and response to protection cases where the project is implemented.
  • Establish articulation and coordination with governmental and non-governmental organizations in the field of health and nutrition in conjunction with the Project Manager.

Does this description fit with you?

  • University studies in Medicine and / or Nutrition, university diploma in nutrition or medicine with experience in public health and community health actions.
  • Experience in implementation, planning and monitoring of primary health care programs, Nutrition and Sexual and Reproductive Health.
  • Experience and mastery in the implementation of nutritional and health surveillance systems, standards, policies and technical, ethical, administrative, legal and safety procedures of national health authorities.
  • Familiar with conflict resolution techniques and community work.
  • Ability to work with counterparts and / or partners
  • Preparation of dissemination materials and systematization documents
  • Competences for task planning, field activity development and reporting. Staff training
  • Desirable experience in promotion and prevention activities at the community level.
  • Minimum experience of 2 years in the area of nutrition or health.
  • Desirable knowledge of the work context in the Portuguese state and its communities, with availability of transfer to the implementation area.
