The organization has an overarching mandate of providing socio-economic development services to women, groups, communities, and NGOs.

DEC’s Head Office is in Bauchi State, and it is currently operational in 24 States of Nigeria including the FCT, with a staff strength of 776 permanent employees.

DEC’s socio-economic enhancement Programmes cut across several sectors that touch the basic fabric of its target beneficiaries and includes education, health, economic/livelihoods, water/environment, good governance & peace building, and microfinance.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Programs to lead our social services department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that support vulnerable populations. The Head of Programs will work closely with the Executive Director, program managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that programs are aligned with DEC’s mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Development and Implementation: Develops, implements, and evaluates programs and services that support vulnerable populations, including children, youth, families, and individuals.

2. Strategic Planning: Collaborates with the Executive Director and other senior staff to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization’s mission and goals.

3. Program Management: Oversees the management of programs, including budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation.

4. Staff Supervision: Supervises program managers and other staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

5. Community Engagement: Builds and maintains relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders to support program development and implementation.

6. Grant Writing and Fundraising: Researches and writes grant proposals, as well as participates in fundraising efforts to support program development and implementation.

7. Evaluation and Quality Improvement: Develops and implements evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for quality improvement.

8. Budgeting and Financial Management: Manages program budgets, including financial planning, monitoring, and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience for the position:

1. BSc. / HND: In social work, non-profit management, or a related field.

2. Minimum of 5 Years of Experience at managerial level: In program development, implementation, and management, preferably in a social services setting.

3. Strong Leadership and Management Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, including staff supervision and development.

4. Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders.

5. Grant Writing and Fundraising Experience: Proven ability to research and write grant proposals, as well as participate in fundraising efforts.

6. Budgeting and Financial Management Skills: Ability to manage program budgets, including financial planning, monitoring, and reporting.

7. Evaluation and Quality Improvement Skills: Ability to develop and implement evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for quality improvement.
