Head of Office Damaturu (DAT)

Under the supervision of the Head of Sub Delegation Jos, Head of DAT Office (HoO) manages the office, its security aspects and its operations in accordance with the strategies, objectives, programs and action plans defined by JOS Sub Delegation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains, oversees and develops a broad network of contacts including state authorities, security agencies, political bodies, community leaders and other humanitarian stakeholders and expands institutional dialogue with them.
  • Contributes to the elaboration of DAT strategies and objectives and ensures the implementation and follow up of related programs and activities, in coordination with the RC/RC Movement, other humanitarian actors and relevant stakeholders
  • Monitors and analyses the humanitarian, political and security environment in Yobe State, in order to identify humanitarian needs and protection concerns in order to prioritize ICRC’s response.
  • Has an overview and highlights the main protection concerns + actors in Yobe.
  • Ensures timely and accurate internal reporting
  • The HoO is in charge of security management for DAT Area of Responsibility (AoR), Yobe in line with the overall security framework established by the Delegation/Sub-Delegation
  • Manages the human, financial and material resources of the office in alignment with the ICRC HR and financial management procedures and policies 
  • Oversee the development of protection activities in Yobe and reinforces the capacity of the FOs (PCP and PFL) covering Yobe to set-up and implement protection activities.

Education and Experience Required

  • University degree or equivalent
  • Typically, 4-6 years overall professional experience and ideally 3-4 years with the ICRC
  • Fluent (min C1) in English, Hausa and Kanuri
  • Computer proficiency
  • Intuitional courses of HLMS and SCMS an asset

Desired profile and Skills

  • Staff management experience is an asset
  • Good understanding of ICRC programs, especially protection and assistance
