DFG Relief Initiative is a not-for-profit, local organization of individual volunteers and staff dedicated to advancing the course of the most marginalized women, girls and youths in communities affected by conflict and other forms of disasters. DFG Relief Initiative is on a mission to foster, encourage, and promote the social development, empowerment, and well-being of underprivileged individuals, groups, and communities (especially women, girls, and youths), by means of relief aid, education, capacity building, advocacy, and other forms of assistance.

Job Description

  • The position is only before the next grant.
  • S/he automatically becomes a staff upon receipt of DFGRI’s next grant.
  • We seek passionate and driven individual to fill the role of Grant Writer responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to grant-making organizations and will persuasively communicate DFGRI’s mission to potential funders.
  • S/he will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with granter contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.
  • This role requires someone with an excellent research, writing, and communication skills, who is also self-motivated, organized and with good time management.

General Objectives

  • Ensure the mission produces high quality and timely proposals, including reports, assessments, and any other documents shared externally;
  • Ensure the follow-up of the grants for the national office and ensure compliance with the relevant stakeholders;
  • Support the full cycle of grants management activities from pre-award assessments, monitoring/compliance visits and close-out procedures;
  • Maintain a grant tracking mechanism in order to effectively follow up grant activities and to determine progress and track contractual obligations;
  • Ensure grant management procedures are followed and donor compliance requirements are met;
  • Support budget preparation and modification;
  • Review and ensure donor reports are coherent, accurate and submitted timely;
  • Ensure projects are implemented in compliance with DFGRI guidelines and relevant donor regulations;
  • Maintain and update grant files (electronic and hard copy files);
  • Coordinate grant audit exercise and ensure no exceptions/disallowances;
  • Lead in the implementation and monitoring of grants milestones, tracking grants deliverables and monitoring grants delivery against grants budget;
  • Support the Executive Director in the external communication for various audiences.

Your Profile
Experience:

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 – 2 years of experience managing humanitarian grants with Development studies, Business studies, or project management experience preferred;
  • Experience in proposals with rigorous requirements and tight deadlines;
  • Experience developing reports and any other contractual and donor deliverables, respecting donor and DFGRI requirements;
  • Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive issues and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience with donor funding regulations, procedures and reporting requirements;
  • Experience working with multi donor projects;
  • Experience in developing and interpreting donor budgets;
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision;
  • Experience leading and/or working in a consortium;
  • Excellent organizational skills: ability to multi-task and work independently and productively in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to effectively liaise with and motivate a variety of people in a multi-cultural environment and across various geographical and time zones;
  • Strong initiatives and improvisation capacities;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work both independently and cooperatively with team members;
  • Good stress management;
  • Excellent English (written, spoken and read) is mandatory.
  • Expats living in and/or outside the country and willing to volunteer remotely are encouraged to apply even if on a short term basis.
