Role Purpose

  • At global level, the Gender & Inclusion Hub focuses on provides strategic and thought leadership on gender equality, inclusion and girls’ rights to drive Plan’s gender-transformative approach. The Gender & Inclusion Hub coordinates the global Gender & Inclusion Group (GIG) Network, which connects technical specialists and other colleagues to enhance cross-organisational learning and information sharing, highlight good practices, and enhances capacity strengthening.
  • The Gender and Inclusion Group (GIG) Network Coordinator plays a key role in managing coordination, knowledge management and communications of the GIG Network. The position will be placed in the Gender & Inclusion Hub within the Gender Transformative Policy and Practice department at Plan International’s Global Hub. It will be part of the Gender & Inclusion Hub, taking part in ongoing work, including meetings and work planning. It will report to the Gender & Inclusion Hub Lead (Global Head of Gender & Inclusion) and work in close collaboration with the Gender & Inclusion Global Team – including the Regional Gender & Inclusion Specialist and Regional Gender & Inclusion Networks – as well as the GIG sister networks.

Dimensions of The Role
The purpose of this position is to facilitate and support the Gender & Inclusion Team, and Gender and Inclusion Group (GIG) Networks to enhance cross-organisational learnings, information sharing and capacity strengthening by:

  • Leveraging the technical expertise of the network to meet demand for temporary gender and inclusion technical support across the organisation
  • Communicating effectively within and about the network, its initiatives and results within Plan and with other external parties including partner organisations.
  • Enabling the effective use of online platforms for the purpose of learning, sharing, information and membership management of the network
  • Supporting the Gender & Inclusion Team and Network and their activities through the provision of reports and information and ensuring projects and people are connected and working collaboratively.
  • Responsible for facilitating and administering Plan International’s GIG Network across Plan Internationals.

Accountabilities
Network Coordination and Administration:

  • Provide administrative/coordination support – including agenda development and co-facilitation – for regular joint online, offline and hybrid meetings of the Gender & Inclusion Hub, GIG Steering Committee, GIG Core Group, and other Gender & Inclusion/GIG workshops, events and meetings.
  • Build and grow the GIG network membership, mobilising technical specialists across all Plan International offices, and ensuring effective on- and off-boarding processes for network members.
  • Maintain a strong network, using online and offline tools, ensuring regular updates, and promoting learning and fostering sharing between network members.
  • Periodically identify the priority needs of network members, and work with other members of the Gender & Inclusion Hub to identify how these can be served. Help manage the supply and demand for temporary technical support or technical inquiries within the network.
  • Maintain membership lists for the GIG network governance groups (Steering Committee, Core Group and Wider Group), GIG sister networks and overviews of the network’s representation or memberships in external networks, coalitions/initiatives
  • Maintain and update an overview and contact details of Plan International’s Gender & Inclusion technical experts
  • Lead of the development and monitoring of the GIG network annual action plans and budgets
  • Maintain the Gender & Inclusion Network/Hub calendar and support the Gender & Inclusion Hub to facilitate Plan International’s coordinated representation/participation in internal and external networks, coalitions/initiatives through network members
  • Supporting the Gender & Inclusion Team and the GIG and their activities through the provision of reports and information and ensuring projects and people are connected and working collaboratively.

Internal Communications and Knowledge Management (KM) processes and platforms:

  • Ensure that Gender and Inclusion intranet pages, libraries, repositories and calendar is user-friendly and maintained.
  • Manage internal communications on the Gender & Inclusion agenda, including the development and dissemination of newsletters, sharing relevant updates, key documents and opportunities with the network, and promoting the network’s initiatives and results
  • Support the Gender & Inclusion Hub and GIG network leadership with the production of communications, knowledge management and guidance related to the Gender & Inclusion Group in English, French and Spanish
  • Coordinate with Network Coordinators from other thematic areas to support a coherent approach across the networks.

Learning planning and resources:

  • Work with G&I Hub staff to develop a learning, communications and engagement plan and lead the logistics required for the roll-out of the plan, maintaining a regular schedule of learning offers and formats (including, for example courses, webinars, newsletters etc.) for technical staff. Ensure regular monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the different learning resources.
  • Design and facilitate learning opportunities – including face-to-face, online and hybrid trainings and capacity strengthening initiatives using a variety of software, tools and (feminist) participatory methodologies
  • Develop multimedia tools (videos, podcasts, graphic visuals, presentations) for socialisation and uptake of Gender & Inclusion knowledge products, tools, training resources and other learning materials
  • Support the Gender & Inclusion Hub staff in analysing, assessing and collating insights and learning on Gender & Inclusion from internal and external sources, and help determine appropriate approaches and formats for sharing with technical audiences within Plan, as well as with external partners.

Project management support:

  • Provide administrative ad hoc support to members of the Gender & Inclusion Hub as needed
  • Provide administrative and quality oversight of external consultancies; manage relationships with vendors

Key Relationships

  • The Gender & Inclusion Network coordinator is a member of the Gender Transformative Policy and Practice Team (GTPP) will report directly to the Head of the Gender Equality and Inclusion in the Global Hub.
  • Key working relationships include with members of the Global Gender and Inclusion Team particularly the Gender Equality Specialist, Global Inclusion Specialist, Gender and Inclusion Programme Officer, Gender and Inclusion Group (GIG) Network, including the GIG Steering Committee, GIG Core Group, Regional Gender and Inclusion Specialist, and GIG sister networks, like the Disability and LGBTQI+ network members
  • Other key working relations include Network Coordinators of the other thematic areas, procurement and finance teams, and Knowledge Management Hub within the GTPP team.

Qualifications And Experience
Knowledge and Experience:

  • Education at Degree level or equivalent vocational study in fields such as Gender Studies or Social Studies or other relevant courses.
  • Experience in managing technical networks and remote development support
  • Proven experience working on children’s rights and gender equality and inclusion within an NGO, UN agency, government department or other relevant institutions, preferable direct experiences from working in countries where Plan implements programs
  • Good understanding of rights-based development as well as gender equality and inclusion.
  • Affinity with inclusion, intersectionality, feminist theory and methodologies and gender norm change.
  • The following competencies are required for this position: result orientation, networking, learning ability, planning and organizing and communicating.
  • Knowledge and Experience in administering and working across remote networks and teams
  • Knowledge and experience using platforms for online collaboration such as MS Teams, Workplace, SharePoint, Zoom and Menti.

Skills:

  • Excellent planning and administration skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong writing and editing skills, particularly for the web
  • Able to work in an international environment managing different time zones and in cross-cultural contexts
  • Able to network and build working relationships from afar
  • Able to consult, gather and integrate information and feedback into concise products, such as reports and communications material
  • Able to provide basic IT technical support in online spaces (e.g., MS Teams and Zoom)
  • Fluency and strong writing skills in English, and at least one of French or Spanish (both preferred).
