Gbv Response Officer At Norwegian Church Aid (NCA)

NCA has been operational in northeastern Nigeria, providing humanitarian relief with a strong presence in Monguno, Maiduguri, Pulka, and Dikwa.

We are now seeking the right candidate to join our team as a GBV Response Officer to help us further our mission and contribute to ongoing efforts in the region. (See details below).

REPORTING TO: Senior GBV Officer
DUTY STATION: Monguno (with possibility of travels to field bases).  

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The GBV Response Officer will support GBV response activities focused on lifesaving GBV response services to women and girls.
This will be accomplished by close monitoring, coaching, and providing mentoring to GBV case workers, GBV assistant and NCA’s partners on the appropriate GBV survivor-centered case management.
The GBV Response Officer will participate and represent NCA on different coordination platforms.
The GBV response officer will lead program components related to GBV case management, GBVIMS/GBVIMS+, and referrals of GBV survivors and GBV response program in general.
JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide regular supervision to NCA and partners’ GBV case workers and ensure the appropriate use of the case management tools.
Participate actively in GBV sub-sector working groups.
Lead in case management review meetings/conferences.
Ensure case management steps are followed, and referrals and documentation are completed appropriately and timely.
Ensure timely assistance and referrals are provided to GBV survivors in adherence to GBV guiding principles, using up- to-date service mapping tools and referral pathways.
Conduct regular meetings with NCA and partners’ GBV team for debriefing and provide support as needed.
Update the service mapping and ensure that the referral pathway at the field level is solidified.
Ensure supplies/resources for counseling spaces, women and girls’ safe space, and other program activities are requested timely and efficiently utilized.
Lead, participate, and support NCA’s and partners in conducting GBV related assessments.
Contribute timely and quality monthly reports and submit progress reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
Communicate actively with partners and beneficiaries, supporting field-level CRM.
Comply with and promote NCA security requirements and program routines, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures.
Undertake any other task related to the GBV programming as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential Criteria: Commitment to Human Rights and Gender Equality: Strong dedication to human rights, gender equality, and deep understanding of issues related to violence against women and girls, including a survivor-centred approach.
Adherence to NCA Values: Commitment to NCA’s core values and principles, including timely reporting and enforcement of the NCA Code of Conduct and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) standards.
Independent Work: Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while being proactive and results oriented.
Gender Sensitivity and Flexibility: Resilient, flexible, and able to work in gender-sensitive contexts, ensuring that the needs and perspectives of all genders are respected.
Cultural Competence: Ability to work and communicate effectively in culturally diverse settings, with experience engaging with community members, leaders, and local organizations.
Community Engagement Experience: Proven experience in working with community groups, community leaders, and women’s empowerment initiatives, including facilitating training and community-based interventions.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in the local language and the ability to deliver presentations, training, and workshops effectively.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant software.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field (e.g., Gender Studies, Public Health, Social Work, Humanities, Law, Psychology, Sociology).
Experience in Gender Programming: 3-6 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years focused on GBV in emergencies, gender equality.
Experience: INGO Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), ideally in a humanitarian or emergency context.
Team Collaboration: Experience working within a relatively large, multidisciplinary team.
Policy Compliance: Ability to independently enforce compliance with internal control procedures and policies, ensuring program integrity.
Capacity Building and Supervision: Experience in supervising staff or community volunteers and building their capacity to implement GBV prevention and response programs.
