Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (BCAI) is committed to empowering and amplifying the
rights of girls, women and young people through equitable access to education, healthcare,
economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability. Founded in 2018, BCAI uses
strategies for policy-level activism, community engagements, capacity building, digital
campaigns and research to address barriers that limit progress for these groups.

Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide individuals passionate about advocacy,
community development, and social impact with hands-on experience and skill
development. As an intern, you will contribute to BCAI’s mission by supporting various
programs and initiatives, while gaining valuable insights into the operations of a nonprofit
organization. This internship offers a platform for professional growth, learning, and
networking, allowing you to deepen your understanding of leadership, human rights
advocacy, social justice, community development, program management, and organizational
operations, etc.

Internship Details
Location: On-site (Kano)
Duration: 3 months
Weekly Commitment: 25 Hours

Programs
As an intern with our Programs Team, you will play a vital role in supporting the design,
planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects focused on education and
gender-based violence (GBV). This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to impactful
initiatives while gaining valuable experience in the nonprofit and development sectors.
As a Programs Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in program design, management,
monitoring and evaluation, and community engagement, all while contributing to the
organization’s mission of creating positive social change.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Programs Volunteer, you will be expected to: - Program Support:
● Assist in designing, planning, organizing, and implementing education, women
economic empowerment and GBV-related projects and activities.
● Support the development and documentation of program work plans, reports, and
impact assessments. - Research and Content Development:
● Conduct desk research to inform program design, proposals, and advocacy
materials.
● Assist in preparing educational materials, training guides, and project
documentation. - Stakeholder Engagement:
● Support the team in coordinating with community stakeholders, beneficiaries, and
partner organizations.
● Assist in organizing events such as workshops, training sessions, and community
outreach programs. - Administrative and Logistical Support:
● Help in maintaining program files, records, and databases.
● Provide logistical support for meetings, events, and activities as needed. - Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):
● Support the collection and collation of data for program monitoring and evaluation
purposes.
● Contribute to documenting success stories and lessons learned.
Skills and Qualities Needed:
● Strong interest in community development, social impact, and advocacy.
● Excellent communication and organizational skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Previous experience or coursework in program management, social sciences, or a
related field is a plus.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
● 1 to 2 years maximum experience in the relevant field is a plus.
● Passion for promoting gender equality, education, and social justice.
Finance
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Intern to support the financial
operations of BCAI. As a Finance Intern, you will gain practical experience in financial
management, budgeting, accounting, and reporting while contributing to BCAI’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
● Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including receipts,
invoices, and bank statements.
● Support the development and monitoring of program budgets to ensure financial
accountability.
● Help with the preparation of financial reports for internal use and donor reporting.
● Assist in reconciling accounts and ensuring that financial transactions are properly
recorded.
● Provide support in the processing of payments and financial transactions.
● Assist in the preparation of financial documents for audits and other regulatory
requirements.
● Support the finance team with general administrative tasks as needed.
● Assist in Organizing and Filing of financial documents.
Skills and Qualities Needed:
● A strong interest in finance, accounting, and nonprofit financial management.
● Previous experience or coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration,
or a related field.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with QUICKBOOKS software is a plus.
● Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle sensitive
financial information.
● 1 to 2 years maximum experience in the relevant field is a plus.
● Basic knowledge of financial principles and regulations.
● Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Communications
We are looking for a passionate and creative Communications Intern to support the
planning, development, and implementation of our communication and visibility efforts. This
role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital media, storytelling,
& advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
● Assist in creating, editing, and publishing engaging content on all BCAI’s website,
blog, and social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
● Support the design of visual content such as flyers, infographics, and newsletters.
● Help draft press releases, reports, success stories, and other promotional materials.
● Monitor media coverage, social media trends, and engagement metrics.
● Assist in organizing and documenting events, webinars, and campaigns.
● Capture and archive compelling stories, photos, and videos from the field.
● Maintain BCAI’s brand voice and visual identity across all channels.
● Perform other communication-related tasks as assigned.
Eligibility Criteria:
● Previous experience or coursework in Communications, Mass Media, Public
Relations, English, Marketing, or related field.
● Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
● Creativity and a good eye for visual storytelling.
● Familiarity with social media platforms and content management tools.
● Basic graphic design and video editing skills (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite, etc.) are
an added advantage.
● Enthusiasm for advocacy, development work, and BCAI’s mission.
● 1 to 2 years maximum experience in the relevant field is a plus.
